Description
The principal provides instructional leadership in curriculum and instruction. The principal is responsible for the evaluation and supervision of all staff members assigned to the building. Administers the school in accordance with the policies of the Board of Education. The principal is responsible for all school activities and building operations. The principal assures the appropriate standards of behavior of the students and staff in the building and on the grounds. Responsible for the in-service of all staff within the building. The principal provides necessary communication to the parents of the students regarding the progress of their children and the general activities of the school. The principal is responsible for the school building's maintenance and security.
Education and Experience:Master's Degree from a school accredited by the North Central Association of Colleges or an equivalent agency.
Minimum of three years teaching and three years administrative experience.
Knowledge: Knowledge of or willingness to learn about and provide leadership for implementation of Racine Unified School District's "North Star Vision"'.
Licenses and Certifications:Wisconsin certification as a school principal is required. Teachscape Certified or must obtain certification within 60 days of the hire date.

1 Instructional Leadership:
- Provides instructional leadership for the school staff.
- Provides leadership for Professional Learning of the staff in curriculum, instruction, assessments and student management techniques.
- Implements the curriculum approved by the Board.
- In collaboration with building staff annually formulates implements and evaluates an effective school improvement plan.
- Provides leadership as LEA Representative to ensure appropriate implementation of student IEPs.
- Ensures that liaison is established between building staff and other groups working to improve instruction.
- Evaluate, with the staff, the effectiveness of the instructional program.
- Knowledge of Wisconsin Educator Effectiveness, coaching models, and teacher development.
- Demonstrated skill and understanding in assessment, data analysis, and accountability systems. Ability to analyze, interpret, and use data to collaborate, identify best practices and areas for improvement, and drive results at the school level.
- Demonstrated success leading a school in closing achievement gaps for all sub-groups.
2. Management:
- Informs all staff members of the procedures to be followed in the event of an accident to any student or employee.
- Establish a procedure for safety, weather-related, accidents, and internal and external incidents that includes filing a detailed report of all accidents on standard forms.
- Helps in securing and organizing the necessary resources for instruction and its improvement.
- Designs and administers systems to effectively and efficiently utilize both material and human resource for instruction and its improvement.
- Ensures that all initial admissions are in accordance with Board policy and that the name recorded on the birth certificate is the same as that recorded on the cumulative record card.
- Requisitions for both emergency and minor repairs, supplies and equipment on standard forms.
- Prepares and certifies the payroll report.
- Prepare, monitor and make appropriate budget proposal and expenditures in support of student achievement.
- Ensures that school financial records are properly maintained and prepared for annual audit.
3. Staffing & Evaluation:
- Assists in selection, evaluation and supervision of assigned personnel and develops, maintains and implements necessary staff development education and evaluations procedures.
- Prepares a written evaluation of all professional personnel and other staff members at intervals and in a manner agreed upon by the contact and as directed by the superintendent.
4. Other Duties As Assigned
- Assumes any additional responsibilities as assigned by the Chief of Schools.
Work Environment:Busy office environment with multiple priorities and frequent interruptions.
Physical Demands:
• Ability to sit or stand for prolonged periods, up to six hours in an eight-hour day
• Ability to perform light physical work, frequently lifting up to thirty pounds without assistance in an indoor setting
• Ability to communicate effectively on the telephone and in person to provide information and assistance
• Ability to move throughout the building and from building to building
• Dexterity and hand/eye coordination necessary to operate computer keyboard and other office equipment such as fax machine, copier, etc.
• Hearing ability adequate to participate in numerous conversations throughout the day, both in person and over the telephone
• Ability to complete job activities in an environment where background noise and frequent interruptions are the norm
• Ability to maintain concentration and focus on tasks requiring timeliness and accuracy
