As a Principal Quality Engineer, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams—including Manufacturing, Engineering, Supplier Quality, and Procurement—to analyze quality issues, drive root cause and corrective actions, and continuously improve product quality and process performance. You will monitor and drive improvements in key performance indicators (KPIs) such as scrap rates, rework, and first-pass yield. This position also plays a leadership role in closing out quality notifications and corrective action requests (CARs) and participating in Quality Clinic activities and continuous improvement initiatives.
This is an onsite position in Windsor Locks, CT.
The Propeller System’s engineering organization in Windsor Locks is a small organization in comparison to many other product lines providing excellent opportunities for motivated engineers to work across multiple specialties supporting the full lifecycle of a product.
What You Will Do
Lead and participate in MRB (Material Review Board) activities involving the processing, evaluation and disposition of nonconforming material throughout the Propeller Systems value stream
Analyze nonconforming material data and coordinate timely and accurate dispositions in accordance with internal procedures and regulatory standards
Manage and monitor quality notifications, ensuring closure through thorough documentation, root cause analysis, and follow-up actions
Collaborate with Engineering, Supplier Quality, and Operations teams to resolve quality issues impacting production flow and product conformity
Drive and close assigned Corrective Action Requests (CARs) by leading root cause investigations and ensuring effectiveness of implemented solutions
Monitor and report on KPIs including scrap, rework, defect trends, and quality notification aging; identify areas for improvement and recommend actions
Participate in and support Quality Clinic activities to triage quality issues and escalate concerns as needed for cross-functional resolution
Identify systemic issues and work cross-functionally to implement preventive actions
Contribute to internal audits, regulatory compliance efforts, and risk mitigation activities
Manages processes to ensure all requirements are met for work transfer and process change management including Resourcing Gate and Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) acceptance
Qualifications You Must Have
Typically requires a University Degree and minimum 8 years prior relevant experience oran Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 5 years of experience
Experience supporting AS9100 (or similar) Quality Management System requirements (e.g. Nonconformity Metrics Management, Risk Analysis, Audit support, etc.)
Experience working in a Manufacturing environment
Experience with First Article inspection (FAI) reviews and Net-Inspect approvals
Previous Propeller Systems experience
Experience in processing customer returns
Quality clinic experience
Qualifications We Prefer
Knowledgeable in Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) including requirements derived from AS9145 and/or AS13100
Knowledgeable in the 8D process and review C/A plans with the product quality team and exposure to quality tools (RCCA, PPAP, Escape Management)
Excellent written and verbal communication skills and experience with data analysis and reporting, with the ability to engage cross-functional teams effectively

The salary range for this role is 107,500 USD - 204,500 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
