Swagelok, Northeast Ohio, USA

Position Summary:

Performs project engineering work requiring application of standard and advanced techniques, procedures and criteria in developing/improving processes and/or systems.

Develops clear and specific objectives for given assignments that may require the investigation of several alternative solutions. Develops thoughts and ideas into engineered solutions with approval from supervisor and provides guidance to other engineers and technicians. Effectively participates in team settings to achieve results. Effectively leads moderate to large projects.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Leads and/or participates in moderate to large scope projects and/or programs
  • Proficient in the area of project management. Completes assignments on time according to contract, resource and budgetary constraints and customer expectations.
  • Communicates progress through management updates and team meetings.
  • Assignments may include process research, equipment selection and development, process design and development.
  • Knowledgeable in the utilization of current process control technologies
  • Coordinates the work of technical and support resources who assist on specific assignments.
  • Trains and supports the development of engineers, technicians and non-technical associates.
  • Preparation and deployment of specifications and/or related documentation.
  • Works with manufacturing personnel to ensure the smooth implementation of process development work into plant operations.
  • Makes decisions within guidelines and policies
  • Demonstrates creative thinking when approaching new problems or tasks
  • Recognizes the importance of change and introduces new ideas for others to act on to actively participate in change projects
  • Establishes contacts and begins building a network of colleagues at various levels and with a variety of opinions and experiences
  • Takes initiative in group and team discussions, recognizing the value of diversity of opinion
  • Demonstrates ability to operate effectively, independently, and within teams that impact own priorities and allocation of time to meet deadlines


Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:

Required:
  • BS degree in Engineering plus appropriate continuous training. Master's level degree or equivalent is encouraged.
  • 5+ years, engineering project leadership or supervisory experience.
  • Some formal exposure to areas outside own department.
  • Recognized as a resource in areas of expertise.
  • Ability to solve complex problems and complete multiple projects, using advanced problem solving methods to make decisions.
  • Applies proven technology independently.
  • Strong oral and written communication including presentation and facilitation skills.
  • Strong computer and typical office software skills.
  • Experienced with developing and achieving future state plans and leading others in change initiatives.
  • Desire for additional responsibilities in technical or manufacturing leadership.
