Join the Avionics - Connected Aviation - Air Traffic Systems (ATS) - Whole Life Engineering (WLE) team as a Principal Project Engineer and Site Implementation Planning Lead. In this role, you'll coordinate engineering and subcontractor activities, work closely with program management and customer representatives, and guide technical performance and schedule adherence for the Radar System Replacement (RSR) program. You'll verify subcontractor quality, review implementation and installation documentation, and ensure compliance with Government standards. You'll collaborate with a large, multidisciplinary engineering team supporting critical FAA, DoD, and international Air Traffic Control systems.

What You Will Do:
  • As Site Implementation Planning Lead, you will provide guidance and support to planning and installation activities for updated radar infrastructure across domestic and international customer bases.
  • You will be responsible for maintaining the RSR System Level Implementation Plan (SLIP) and overseeing the submission and approval of Site-Specific Implementation Plans (SSIP).
  • You will ensure SSIP alignment with program requirements, logistical and operational needs, and RTX and Government standards.
  • You will ensure subcontractor site survey report findings translate into actionable plans for closure in support of on-time installation and implementation activities.
  • You will work with a major subcontractor and with customer/Government personnel to ensure that plans for ATS equipment are delivered on-time and provide sufficient detail to address system installation, test, and certification for operation in accordance with a challenging schedule.
  • You will lead coordination of major subcontractor site preparation efforts, including efforts to assess and prepare infrastructure (power, structure, environment, et al.), and ensure site readiness for radar equipment installation.
  • For installation sites, you will oversee site logistics, including site access, tools, materials, and equipment delivery, while resolving logistical, ensuring that all necessary resources are available and staged on time.
  • You will guide and ensure quality performance of a major subcontractor in maintenance and sustainment of the installed radar infrastructure.
  • You will work with a lead Implementation Manager to help coordinate second-level engineering responses to deployed equipment anomalies that are not resolved via subcontractor-provided first-level maintenance actions.
  • With the program chief engineer, you will assist with oversight of additional RTX engineering functions in execution of program tasks in alignment with Government authorization, budget, and schedule.
  • You will assist with development and delivery workflow of Government CDRLs.

  • You will learn details of radar deployment and sustainment within domestic and international customer bases.
  • You will learn the value of your tight adherence to RTX Lifecycle Program Management (RLPM) process requirements in ensuring successful performance on a high visibility, critically important Government program.


Qualifications You Must Have:
  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 8 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 5 years of experience

  • Experience coordinating program performance tasks with US (or similar) Government personnel
  • Experience reporting program performance to US Government senior leadership personnel
  • Experience overseeing multiple engineering disciplines on a US Government program
  • Experience overseeing and being responsible for performance of engineering personnel on a US Government program

The salary range for this role is 107,500 USD - 204,500 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
