About the job

We're seeking a Principal Public Relations Manager to join the Corporate Communications team.

In this wide-ranging, fast-paced, and strategic role, you will be a core member of Twilio's Public Relations team, leading external communications in support of Twilio executives, customers, partners, and employer brand.

The role sits within Twilio's Corporate Communications team, which is responsible for shaping and delivering Twilio's story to media, customers, industry analysts, and employees. You will collaborate closely with partners across Social Impact, People, Investor Relations, Legal, Brand, and Corporate Communications to craft compelling external narratives that generate press coverage and awareness.

Responsibilities

In this role, you'll:
  • Lead Employer Brand PR: In partnership with the People team, drive awareness of Twilio as a great place to work by spotlighting the company's people, values, and culture through proactive external storytelling.
  • Own External CAO Communications: Design and execute a comprehensive external communications strategy for Twilio's Chief Administrative Officer, inclusive of media opportunities, thought leadership, speaking engagements, and LinkedIn social presence.
  • Manage Partner and Customer PR: Work closely with Twilio's Partner and Customer Marketing teams to identify external storytelling opportunities highlighting Twilio's customers and partners. Proactively pitch media on how Twilio's customers and partners use the platform to deliver exceptional customer experiences.
  • Lead Social Impact PR: Working closely with Twilio's Chief Social Impact Officer to develop thought leadership content and secure media coverage spotlighting Twilio.org and the thousands of social impact organizations that use Twilio's products to make a lasting impact across the globe.
  • Support Financial Communications: Support Twilio's quarterly earnings, acquisition, and industry investment announcements by working closely with the company's Investor Relations team.
  • Collaborate Cross-Functionally: Lead PR programs and drive media relations, including proactive press outreach, by collaborating with stakeholders across internal teams and external agency partners.

*Required:
  • 10+ years of experience in corporate communications, executive communications, or public relations, ideally within a high-growth or enterprise technology environment.
  • Exceptional media relations, with a demonstrated ability to successfully pitch and place stories in top-tier business and technology outlets - even in the absence of hard news.
  • Proven track record of directly supporting and advising C-suite leaders in high-stakes, fast-moving environments.
  • Strong writing, editing, and storytelling skills with executive judgment and the ability to capture a specific leader's authentic voice.
  • Strong business acumen and financial communications experience, ideally with a publicly traded company.
  • Strategic and systematic thinker who can establish high-level narratives and execute them with tactical precision.
  • Exceptional organizational skills with a calm-under-pressure demeanor and the ability to manage competing priorities on tight timelines.
  • Strong collaborative skills, with a proven ability to work with multiple cross-functional partners simultaneously.

Desired:
  • Active practitioner of AI: Strong interest in how artificial intelligence is transforming public relations and communications, with a willingness to lead change and build innovative workflows using AI tools.
  • Familiarity with enterprise technology: A solid baseline understanding of cloud communications, API technologies, data platforms, and the customer engagement landscape.
  • Experience managing executives' social media presence (e.g., LinkedIn) with an eye for digital engagement trends.
  • Experience working inside a fast-paced agency environment as well as in-house.

Location

This role will be remote, but is not eligible to be hired in San Francisco, CA, Oakland, CA, San Jose, CA, or the surrounding areas.

Travel

We prioritize connection and opportunities to build relationships with our customers and each other. For this role, approximately 20% travel is anticipated to help you connect in-person in a meaningful way.

Compensation

*Please note this role is open to candidates outside of California, Colorado, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, Minnesota, New Jersey, New York, Vermont, Washington D.C., and Washington State. The information below is provided for candidates hired in those locations only.

The estimated pay ranges for this role are as follows:
  • Based in Colorado, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, Minnesota, Vermont or Washington D.C. : $141,520 - $176,900.
  • Based in New York, New Jersey, Washington State, or California (outside of the San Francisco Bay Area): $149,840 - $187,300.
  • Based in the San Francisco Bay Area, California: $166,400 - $208,000.
  • This role may be eligible to participate in Twilio's equity plan and corporate bonus plan. All roles are generally eligible for the following benefits: health care insurance, 401(k) retirement account, paid sick time, paid personal time off, paid parental leave.

The successful candidate's starting salary will be determined based on permissible, non-discriminatory factors such as skills, experience, and geographic location.
