What you will do

Johnson Controls is seeking a Principal Power Electronics Engineer to support our Chillers product group based in New Freedom, PA. You will be responsible for designing, testing and sustaining Variable Speed Drives (VSD) for chiller applications. This team conducts design, simulation, prototype testing, reliability testing and confirms that the product operates as expected with reference to specific documented hardware requirements. This position is located onsite in New Freedom, PA. Candidates must be commuting distance, or able to relocate. Johnson Controls offers various relocation packages based on your needs.

How you will do it
  • Serve as technical expert within Power Electronics Department that is responsible to design, test, and maintain power electronics products and systems for Johnson Controls' chiller applications.
  • Determine the best techniques, procedures and/or theories as they apply to the development of power electronics products and systems.
  • Create compliance procedures for the development of electrical/electronic circuitry designs.
  • Define and interpret design specifications; design electrical/electronic circuitry to meet specified requirements; and analyzes product design requirements and recommend solutions.
  • Prepare and coordinates the release of documentation to support component design and manufacturing.
  • Participate in all aspects of preliminary design and systems architecture, and conducts analysis of the cost impacts of proposed modifications, upgrades, and new implementations of application software.
  • Conduct feasibility studies and systems analysis for new applications or major modifications of existing systems.
  • Work with other engineers, designers, and technicians on specific work assignments.
  • Forecast and schedule work activities, and defines processes for repetitive tasks.
  • Act as the technical lead for troubleshooting field and factory issues on the range of power electronics products and systems on Johnson Controls' chillers.


What we look for

Required
  • Minimum Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering with specialization on Power Electronics
  • 5+ years of industry experience in the field of Power Electronics.


Preferred
  • Master's degree, and/or Ph.D. degree, with focus in Power Electronics
  • Strong experience on power electronics controls
  • Strong experience on IGBT based inverters
  • Strong experience on advanced tools such as Matlab/Simulink, OPAL-RT, Saber


HIRING SALARY RANGE: $90,000 - $135,000 (Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.)
