This position is for a Principal Mechanical Engineer with a minimum of eight (8) years of professional experience. This position is 100% onsite in Tucson, AZ.

TheTest Equipment Engineering (TEE)Directorate is a multi-discipline organization responsible for developing test solutions for all Raytheon Missile Defense (RMD) products. We are hands-on, designing with the latest technology and tools, and integrate state of the arttest solutions with the most advanced engineering systems in the world. TEE products are located inengineering labs, in the field, and in production environments utilizedfor weapon system product verification, qualification, test data analysis, and production test solution development. TEE has job opportunities across all phases of the engineering lifecycle, including demonstrations, early engineering tests, design verification tests, production, and sustainment.

What You Will Do 

  • Research, plan, design and develop mechanical test systems in areas including, but not limited to, vibration, thermal, hydraulic, radio frequency, and electro-optical for production testing environments

  • Integrate andvalidatetest systems against stringent accuracy and reliability requirements

  • Evaluate production installations and recommend design modifications toeliminatemalfunctions

Qualifications You Must Have 

  • Typically requires aBachelor’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM)

  • Minimum of eight (8) years of technical / engineering experience in mechanical design and/or production support

  • Minimum of five (5)years experiencewith CAD solid modeling tools and analysis tools with an emphasis on ProE/ CREO Parametric

  • Experience with geometric dimensioning and tolerance analysis

  • Experience creating mechanical drawing packages

Qualifications We Prefer

  • Design experience with mechanical and electronic packaging

  • Experience with Configuration Management processes, application, and tools (e.g., Windchill /cPDM)

  • Experience in Model Based Engineering or Model Based Design

  • Experience in mechanical sub-systems packaging, materials, thermal analysis, structural analysis, control systems, electrical hardware design, or large assembly development

  • Experience with environmental stress screening of hardware (e.g., vibration, shock, thermal, etc.)

  • Systems engineering experience

  • Knowledge of basic management approaches such as work scheduling, prioritizing,coachingand process execution

  • Experience in proposal development and the first four gates within the Integrated Product Development System (IPDS)

  • Experience with providing guidance andassistanceto less experienced professionals and/or support employees

The salary range for this role is 107,500 USD - 204,500 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company’s performance.

This role is a U.S.-based role. If the successful candidate resides in a U.S. territory, the appropriate pay structure and benefits will apply.
