About the role:As the Principal Master Data Architect & PLM Owner, you will be the ultimate custodian and strategic architect of Bolt Graphics' product data. You will design the foundational blueprints for how data is structured, validated, and synchronized across our entire digital ecosystem-from early engineering concepts to mass production. Your immediate mission will be twofold: immediately architecting a rigorous, scalable master data governance process, and leading the end-to-end integration, implementation, and expansion of an enterprise cloud PLM system (such as Arena or Oracle Agile).
This is a high-impact, technical leadership role requiring deep expertise in data schema design, systems integration, and cross-functional influence across Engineering, Supply Chain, and Finance.
What you'll do:Master Data Architecture & Governance- Data Schema Design: Design and enforce Bolt Graphics' Enterprise Item Master, including part-numbering strategies (smart or sequential), component categorization frameworks, custom attributes, and lifecycle state definitions.
- Digital Thread Integration: Architect the data mapping, pipelines, and API integrations between engineering CAD/EDA environments, the PLM system, and downstream ERP/MES platforms to ensure a single source of truth
- Data Quality & Cleansing: Establish data-quality automation rules and validation scripts to proactively catch duplicate components, formatting errors, or incomplete metadata before data hits production.
- Data Stewardship: Act as the ultimate authority on data governance, leading the Data Governance Council to align cross-functional stakeholders on data standards and impact analysis.
PLM Implementation & System Ownership - End-to-End Deployment: Lead the cross-functional evaluation, selection, and deployment roadmap of our enterprise PLM platform (e.g., Arena, Agile).
- ETL & Migration: Own the Extraction, Transformation, and Loading (ETL) strategy to migrate legacy data, disparate engineering spreadsheets, and silicon/hardware designs into the centralized PLM repository
- Configuration & Workflow Management: Architect and manage robust Engineering Change Order (ECO), Manufacturing Change Order (MCO), and deviance workflows, optimizing for both engineering velocity and operational rigor.
Supply Chain Data Syndication- Multi-Tier Ecosystem Alignment: Establish secure, automated data-sharing protocols to syndicate approved vendor lists (AVL), manufacturer part numbers (MPNs), and release packages down to external foundries, ODMs, and EMS partners.
- Audit & Compliance: Conduct routine integrity audits on the Bill of Materials (BOM) data stack to ensure strict compliance, traceability, and readiness for high-volume manufacturing.
Qualifications:- 7-10+ years of experience in Master Data Management (MDM), Configuration Management, or Product Data Architecture within a complex hardware development environment (Silicon, HPC, ASIC, or Server architecture highly preferred).
- PLM Implementation: Proven track record of leading at least one full-lifecycle, ground-up implementation or major migration of an enterprise PLM platform (Arena or Oracle Agile preferred).
- Systems Integration: Direct experience mapping schemas and scoping APIs for PLM-to-ERP integrations (e.g., connecting Arena/Agile to systems like NetSuite, SAP, or Oracle). Experience with middleware/iPaaS tools (Celigo, Workato, MuleSoft) is a major plus.
- Technical Literacy: Strong proficiency in data analysis and validation techniques. Experience writing SQL queries, utilizing advanced Excel, or leveraging Python/data visualization tools (Tableau/PowerBI) to audit and report on data health metrics.
- Domain Expertise: Deep understanding of how hardware engineering data is generated, specifically managing EDA data (Cadence, Altium, Synopsys) and mechanical CAD databases (SolidWorks, Creo).
- Education: BS/BA in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Information Systems, Operations, or a related technical discipline. Master's degree or relevant data governance certifications preferred.
Key Competencies for Success- Systems Thinker: You look beyond individual files and see the entire enterprise data landscape. You understand how a single checkbox in PLM impacts inventory valuation in Finance and material planning in the Supply Chain.,
- Pragmatic Gatekeeper: You know how to build rigorous, uncompromised data pipelines without introducing unnecessary bureaucracy that slows down agile startup engineering teams.,
- Cross-Functional Diplomat: Ability to advocate for data integrity and align diverse stakeholders-translating highly technical data architecture concepts into clear operational value for executives, engineers, and procurement specialists alike.
Compensation Range: $200,000-$250,000 per year (California). This range represents the anticipated base pay for this role; the final offer may vary based on qualifications, experience, and location.
