Job description

Summary of Job Purpose:
The Principal Liaison Engineer serves as the primary technical interface between SED and Boeing located in close proximity to customer design center. This role is responsible for coordinating activities across multiple SED product lines, supporting customer needs, and facilitating high-quality communications and relationships. The Principal Liaison Engineer ensures timely resolution of technical issues, provides expert guidance, and fosters trust and collaboration between SED and the customer.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Act as the onsite representative of SED, providing technical support, coordination, and issue resolution across all assigned product lines.
• Build a strong durable relationship with the key technical decision makers at Boeing, reinforce trust and credibility in the Safran product and operational execution
• Coordinate and communicate with SED product line engineers and specialists to address customer inquiries, requirements, and concerns.
• Coordinate Research and Technology planning and presentation so that it is aligned with customer expectations
• Interface with customer personnel to understand technical needs, communicate SED solutions, and relay feedback to internal SED teams. Understand technical pain points for current products.
• Facilitate the flow of information between customer and SED engineering, program management, quality, and supply chain functions.
• Monitor and report on customer needs, technical challenges, and emerging opportunities to SED leadership.
• Support and coordinate the onsite resolution of issues between Boeing and SED teams related to product performance, manufacturing, installation, and maintenance.
• Lead or participate in cross-functional meetings, technical reviews, and problem-solving activities with customer and SED teams.
• Ensure adherence to SED and customer standards, quality requirements, and contractual obligations.
• Provide feedback and recommendations for product improvement, process enhancement, new features or quality initiatives based on customer experience.
• Represent SED in a professional, proactive manner, promoting a collaborative and solutions-focused culture.

Travel Specificity
Majority of time expected to be in the Seattle area. Travel expected between SED locations (Domestic, Europe and other locations) up to 25%. May be more at the beginning of the assignment.

Physical Demands
While performing the duties of the job, the employee is regularly required to remain in a stationary position and occasionally move about the office and laboratory. Constantly operates and uses a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a copier/printer and laboratory machinery. The ability to communicate information and ideas so others will understand. Must be able to exchange accurate information. The ability to observe, identify and assess details at close range (within a few feet of the observer). Occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds across the office for various needs.

Work Environment
The work environment is generally office environment (Safran and customer locations). The noise level in the office is typically quiet while the noise level in the lab can occasionally require hearing protection.

Candidate skills & requirements

Required Competencies:

Education/Experience
• Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, aerospace, electrical, engineering technology, manufacturing, industrial, mechanical, or systems engineering. Maser degree a plus.
Typical experience: Principal Liaison Engineer: 15 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience.

Experience within the aerospace industry, is required, direct experience working with Boeing is a plus.

Knowledge, skills, and abilities
• Must be a self-directed individual requiring minimal supervision
• Demonstrated ability to think critically, identify root causes and propose effective solutions
• Understands and is proficient with engineering documentation requirements, and engineering analysis tools.
• Knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology. This includes applying principles, techniques, procedures, and equipment to the design and production of various goods and services
• Knowledge of industry and regulatory standards, policies, and compliance requirements.
• Knowledge or experience in aerospace, electrical, or mechanical systems
• Understands the safety and environmental implications of architecture decisions required for aerospace applications.
• Ability to work closely with internal and external customers at engineering and management levels with minimum supervision
• Experience presenting technical plans or speaking on technical topics to project teams, customers or other groups as required
• Adhere to safe work practices and contributes to the evolution of the health, safety, and environmental program and culture
• Knowledge of Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) techniques and tools such as Cameo or equivalents.
• Knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology. This includes applying principles, techniques, procedures, and equipment to the design and production of various goods and services.
• Strong understanding of system engineering development processes, such as ARP 4754 or IEEE 632.
• Knowledge of DO-160, ARP4761, and MIL-STD-810 preferred.
• Familiar with Advance Product Quality Planning is a plus but not required.
