Your Contribution

At Newmont, you will serve as a trusted legal advisor providing strategic employment law counsel across the organization. You will partner closely with business leaders and HR teams to handle employment matters, mitigate legal risk, support workplace investigations, and ensure compliance with evolving employment laws while enabling business success.

As Part of Our Team, You Will

  • Provide employment law advice to HR and business leaders on hiring, performance management, employee relations, discipline, investigations, and terminations.
  • Counsel stakeholders on compliance with federal and state employment laws, including Title VII, ADEA, ADA, FMLA, FLSA, leave programs, disability accommodations, workers' compensation, and immigration matters.
  • Identify, assess, and proactively manage employment-related legal risks while providing practical business-focused solutions.
  • Lead and advise on workplace investigations, including process design, documentation, corrective actions, and escalation recommendations.
  • Monitor legislative and regulatory developments and translate legal requirements into actionable business guidance.
  • Draft, review, and maintain employment policies, standards, training materials, and legal documentation.
  • Provide legal advice related to workplace health and safety matters and associated employment law implications.
  • Support employment litigation, administrative proceedings, grievances, and external counsel management.
  • Deliver employment law training and education to HR professionals and leadership teams.
  • Partner with cross-functional stakeholders to ensure consistent and defensible employment practices.


Prerequisites for Your Success in This Role

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
  • Licensed to practice law in the applicable jurisdiction(s).
  • Significant experience advising on employment and labor law matters.
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. federal and state employment laws and regulations.
  • Experience managing employment litigation, workplace investigations, and regulatory matters.
  • Ability to independently assess legal risk and provide strategic business-oriented advice.
  • Excellent drafting, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Experience working directly with senior business leaders and HR professionals.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management capabilities.
  • Ability to balance legal risk mitigation with practical business objectives.

  • This is a hybrid position based at Newmont's Corporate Headquarters in Denver, Colorado. Team members are expected to work onsite three (3) days per week, with the flexibility to work remotely on the remaining days.


The salary range offered for this role is USD $168,800 - 270,000. The salary range is tied to the Colorado market for jobs performed in Colorado. The salary offer to the successful candidate will be based on job-related education, training, and/or experience. The salary offer will not be based on a candidate's salary history at other jobs, and by law, Newmont will not seek information about salary history, and candidates should not share such information with Newmont.

This role will be eligible for participation in a discretionary annual bonus program, pursuant to which an employee may be awarded a percentage of their salary based on the company's performance and their own individual performance. This role also will be eligible for participation in a discretionary long-term incentive program, pursuant to which an employee may receive awards based on their level and individual performance.
