Position Summary-

Provide Human Resources (HR) management and employee services in all major functional areas including employee/labor relations, collective bargaining agreement interpretation and administration, grievance responses, union negotiations support, union avoidance, EEO/AA, training and development, performance counseling, compensation and benefits administration, Workers' Compensation, recruiting and staffing, safety support, and wellness programs. Represent the company in any formal complaints such as unemployment compensation hearings, EEOC investigations, etc. Responsible for developing and monitoring respective HR budget and expenses for assigned area.

Duties and Responsibilites-

Manage and implement recruiting, selection, and hiring for assigned areas consistent with established standards and affirmative action objectives. Coordinate new employee on boarding.

Provide counsel and support to local operations management in all areas of Human Resources, Coordinate efforts with appropriate divisional Human Resources personnel and functional management. Serve as a facilitator between groups and sections to accomplish area goals. Assist in the development and facilitation of training programs and initiatives as required.

Provide collective bargaining agreement clarification, interpretation, administration, grievance investigation and grievance avoidance. Provide information and analysis to support Area Operations Management. Facilitate appropriate grievance discussions and coordinate written responses. Serve as Company Representative and prepare local cases for unemployment compensation, human relations commission, EEOC, NLRB, etc.

Administer and support compensation and benefits programs. Provide timely responses inquiries regarding benefits questions, HR policies and other issues. Develop and monitor HR expense budget for assigned area.

Support all safety related initiatives. Coordinate worker's compensation claims. Actively promote the use of light/restricted duty for employees on workers compensation or otherwise in conjunction with approved medical restrictions in order to contain costs. Review and recommend settlements where appropriate. Serve as an advocate and promote all safety, wellness, and educational initiatives.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities-

Extensive knowledge of labor and employment laws including Title VII of the Civil Rights Act, Americans with Disabilities Act, Worker's Compensation, unemployment compensation, FLSA, FMLA, NLRA, EEO, etc.

In depth knowledge and understanding of collective bargaining agreements for areas of responsibility.

Thorough knowledge of Company and human resources policies and procedures.

Experience with performance management including documenting deficiencies and action plans to address them.

Experience and Education-

Bachelor's Degree

7-10 years of progressive experience in an HR generalist role with an emphasis on employee and labor relations.

PHR or SPHR (preferred - not required)
