Full Job Description
The Role:

As a Principal Human Factors Engineer, you are in a technical leadership position coordinating team effort, engaging with stakeholders, and advocating for user-centered engineering approaches. In this role, you will be an expert in the application of MTI's user-centered research, analysis, design, and development process to drive the vision of highly effective solutions for complex, critical missions.

Security Clearance Required

  • Due to federal contract requirements, applicants must be U.S. persons and eligible for a U/S. security clearance


Your Responsibilities:
• Understand overarching project and program technical direction, develop a comprehensive human factors program, and coordinate a team to achieve overall project success.
• Ensure compliance with human factors standards and best practices while championing the development of usable and mission-effective systems develop a usable and mission-effective systems.
• Lead and oversee diverse technical work such as requirements discovery, compliance, workflow and task analyses, user events, and usability studies, etc.
• Cultivate a collaborative and user-centric culture within the team, fostering a relentless commitment to knowledge sharing, skill development, and the pursuit of user satisfaction.
• Technical lead on proposals and capture efforts.
• Work independently on complex tasks, lead cross-functional teams, collaborate with peers, and mentor junior and mid-level team members.
• Lead and oversee documentation efforts such as Human Engineering Design Approach Documents (HEDADs), Critical Task Analysis (CTA) reports, project briefings, test results, etc.
• Choose, develop, apply, and oversee the application of appropriate tools and standards. Ensure team compliance with human factors standards and best practices.
• Interface with the prime contractor, other teammates, and the government customer to provide human factors expertise.
• Provide human factors design, development, analysis, and evaluation for all aspects of the system across the lifecycle

Your Experience:
• A bachelor's degree in Human Factors Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Psychology, or a related field.
• An advanced degree (master's or PhD) in a related field is preferred.
• A minimum of 10 years of relevant work experience is generally required.
• A distinguished record of leadership, marked by the mentorship of junior, mid-level, and senior engineers.
• Comprehensive and advanced knowledge of HF principles, tools, techniques, and standards.
• A comprehensive understanding of the system engineering lifecycle, and especially HSI considerations.
• Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey complex human factors findings and recommendations articulately to a wide range of audiences.
