About the Role

The Principal FinOps Analyst drives financial transparency, accountability, and optimization across the organization's cloud footprint. This role partners with engineering, finance, and business leaders to analyze cloud spend, improve cost allocation accuracy, and support data-driven budgeting and forecasting.

The Principal FinOps Analyst focuses on financial insight and reporting, while collaborating closely with engineering to influence cost-efficient architectural and operational decisions. This role ensures every dollar of cloud spend is attributable, visible, and aligned to business value.

Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned.
  • Monitor daily cloud spend across providers and identify anomalies, waste, and optimization opportunities.
  • Produce recurring cost reports by cost center, business unit, and application.
  • Maintain and validate tagging compliance for financial allocation accuracy.
  • Support budgeting and forecasting processes with trend analysis and variance reporting.
  • Assist in modeling and tracking savings mechanisms (e.g., committed use discounts, reserved capacity).
  • Partner with engineering teams to review high-cost workloads and recommend optimization strategies.
  • Develop and maintain dashboards for executive and operational stakeholders.
  • Participate in monthly business reviews to explain cost drivers and trends.
  • Support chargeback and showback frameworks.
  • Contribute to ongoing maturity of FinOps processes, documentation, and governance standards.


Required Qualifications:

7+ years of experience with a bachelor's degree or 5+ years of experience with an advanced degree or 12+ years of experience with a high school diploma or equivalent.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • 2-5 years of experience in finance, FP&A, cloud cost analysis, or related analytical roles.
  • Strong analytical skills with proficiency in Excel, SQL, or data visualization tools.
  • Working knowledge of cloud billing constructs (compute, storage, data transfer, licensing).
  • Ability to translate financial data into clear, actionable insights.
  • Strong communication skills for cross-functional collaboration.
  • Experience with FinOps or cloud cost management tools.
  • Familiarity with AWS, Azure, or GCP billing structures.
  • Understanding of tagging strategies and cost allocation models.
  • Experience supporting chargeback/showback in enterprise environments.
  • FinOps Foundation Practitioner certification or cloud certifications.
  • Success Metrics: Accurate and timely cost reporting, improved tagging compliance and allocation coverage, reduced unallocated or "unknown" , measurable spend cost optimization outcomes, increased financial transparency across engineering and business units.

Benefits & Compensation

MiniMed offers a competitive salary and flexible benefits package

Salary ranges for U.S (excl. PR) locations (USD):$109,000.00 - $185,000.00

For roles located in California, Seattle WA, Washington DC, Boston MA, and New York City, the salary range is $121,000.00 - $205,000.00 USD.

Actual compensation may vary based on factors including experience, education, certifications, skills, market conditions, internal equity, and geographic location. Compensation and benefits information pertains solely to candidates hired within the United States (local market compensation and benefits will apply for others).

This position is eligible for a short-term incentive called the Short Term Incentive (STI).
