We anticipate the application window for this opening will close on - 2 Nov 2026

A Day in the LifeThe Cranial and Spine Service team develops and delivers technical training that enables Medtronic field service professionals and customer biomedical teams to maintain, troubleshoot, and repair complex medical technologies.

This role is ideal for technical professionals who enjoy solving difficult electrical and electromechanical challenges, interpreting schematics, and translating complex concepts into practical training. Supporting a global service organization, the position focuses primarily on imaging and x-ray based systems within the Cranial and Spine portfolio.

While this position is posted as remote, training activities are conducted at the Lafayette, Colorado facility. The role requires onsite presence a minimum of two weeks per month to facilitate instructor-led training and support hands-on learning activities, so living a reasonable driving distance from this facility is required. Up to 25% domestic and international travel may be required.

This role is responsible for designing and delivering technical training programs for field service engineers and biomedical professionals supporting Cranial and Spine technologies. Success in this position requires a strong foundation in electrical engineering principles, the ability to interpret schematics and complex system designs, and the capability to translate technical concepts into effective learning experiences.

Unlike a traditional instructional design role, this position requires hands-on technical expertise and the ability to develop training content directly from engineering documentation, repair procedures, and circuit-level troubleshooting activities. It is also not a clinical training role; candidates are expected to bring technical knowledge of electrical, electronic, or electromechanical systems rather than clinical or patient-facing expertise. The individual will develop training content, lead classroom and hands-on instruction, and serve as a technical expert for troubleshooting and repair methodologies.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Develop technical training curricula, course materials, assessments, and learning assets for service and customer audiences.
  • Create and update training content using electrical schematics, engineering drawings, repair procedures, and technical documentation.
  • Deliver instructor-led and hands-on training programs covering system operation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair.
  • Translate complex electrical and electromechanical concepts into effective training for diverse technical audiences.
  • Partner with engineering, manufacturing, quality, regulatory, and service teams to ensure training content reflects current products and procedures.
  • Evaluate training effectiveness and implement continuous improvements to course content and delivery methods.
  • Support global service readiness for new product introductions, software releases, and product updates.
  • Provide technical expertise on system diagnostics, root cause analysis, and complex troubleshooting scenarios.

Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent with 8+ years OR Associate's Degree with 6+ years OR Bachelor's Degree with 4+ years of engineering, technical training, field service, troubleshooting, or related technical experience.
  • Ability to travel up to 25% domestically and internationally and work onsite in Lafayette, CO a minimum of two weeks per month.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience interpreting electrical schematics, circuit diagrams, and technical documentation.
  • Formal or informal training or study in electrical engineering concepts (such as electrical engineering coursework, or master electrician or automotive repair experience)
  • Experience troubleshooting complex electrical systems where solutions may not be predefined by standard procedures.
  • Familiarity with commonly used test equipment (i.e.: power supplies, DVM's, signal generators, dosimeters, flow meters, etc.)
  • Experience servicing imaging, x-ray, mammography, gamma ray, or other diagnostic equipment.
  • Experience in medical device field service, manufacturing engineering, or technical support roles.
  • Experience with instructional design tools, including Articulate, and learning management systems.

For Baccalaureate degrees earned outside of the United States, a degree that satisfies the requirements of 8 C.F.R. a7 214.2(h)(4)(iii)(A) is required.
