  • Initiate Purchase Requisitions and track relevant orders and documents.
  • Plan and oversee alterations of facilities and maintain risk registers for projects.

Northrop Grumman’s Space Sector is seeking a Principal Facilities Planner – Level 3 to join our team in Dulles, VA.     

As a Principal Facilities Planner you act as primary contact for facilities department for all space requests, coordinating efforts with different teams and stakeholders, and leading projects on design concept and implementation. You will also create graphic communication documents to communicate ideas, scopes of work, material specifications and floor utilization plans.

Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Oversees and manages the facilities projects and space planning activities and serves as liaison between leadership, Business Unit, Program, and other customers.

  • Supports space planning efforts as a primary contact for any office space requests.

  • Manages space planning responsibilities for multiple buildings, with a variety of projects in broad range of size and scopes.

  • Coordinates employee moves, updates Archibus system, and generates monthly reports on space utilization.

  • Develop fit plans including current and proposed layouts of furniture with power/data requirements for design build fit outs.

  • Coordinates, and administers hoteling offices for hybrid employees.

  • Initiates Purchase Requisitions and tracks Purchase Orders, submittals, and Change Notices.

  • Plan, design, and oversee the reconfiguration, maintenance, and alteration of equipment, machinery, buildings, structures, and other facilities.

  • Maintains opportunity and risk register for Capex and Opex projects as needed.

  • Produce and implement risk mitigation and schedule recovery plans as required

  • Identifies any task that will require special inspection and coordinates with customer and contractors

  • Acts as primary contact with Sustainability and oversees Region Sustainability Roadmap

  • Other duties as assigned

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Space Planning, or Interior Design with 5 years of experience – OR Master’s degree with 3 years of experience – OR PhD with 1 year of experience.    

  • No clearance required to start

  • Experience in Facilities Planning and construction processes. 

  • Experience in reading and analyzing construction documents. 

  • Experience in Microsoft Products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, or Project, etc.) 

  • Experience using CAD software. 

  • Experience using real estate asset management, and booking software such as Agile Quest, and Archibus. 

  • Strong oral and written communication skills

 Preferred Qualifications:     

  • Knowledge of Strong Problem-Solving Skills.

  • Strong knowledge of design process and application of graphic design tools.

  • Knowledge of design parameters and guidelines, application of Life Safety, ADA and EHS codes.

  • Experience working with Facilities Managers, Engineers, and Project/Construction Managers.

Primary Level Salary Range: $94,200.00 - $141,200.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
