Full Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Principal Executive Recruiter to lead high-impact executive searches across eBay, with a particular focus on Engineering and other critical business functions. In this highly strategic role, you will partner closely with senior executives, People Business Partners, and other key partners to identify, attract, assess, and hire exceptional executive talent.
You will also work closely with an Executive Sourcer to develop comprehensive market maps, build diverse talent pipelines, and create innovative search strategies. You will also take a hands-on role in sourcing, identifying, and directly engaging prospective executive candidates through targeted market outreach and relationship-building. The successful candidate will bring deep executive recruiting expertise, strong business judgment, and a commitment to delivering thoughtful, high-touch experiences for candidates and internal partners.
Responsibilities:
- Partner with eBay executives and People Business Partners to develop and implement comprehensive executive search strategies.
- Serve as a trusted advisor and thought partner to hiring leaders throughout the search process, providing market insights, strategic guidance, and regular progress updates.
- Lead executive search kickoff meetings, candidate calibration sessions, and search update meetings with senior leaders, People Business Partners, Sourcers, and external search firms.
- Manage external search firm relationships, including firm selection, contract negotiation, performance management, and search execution.
- Evaluate executive candidates through initial assessments, in-depth interviews, partner feedback, and leadership capability reviews.
- Partner with executive sourcing and take a hands-on role to conduct market mapping, develop proactive talent pipelines, and identify innovative ways to engage highly sought-after talent.
- Deliver a high-touch, candidate-centered experience that reflects eBay's brand and values throughout every stage of the search process.
- Collaborate with Compensation and People Business Partners to develop offer strategies and lead executive offer negotiations.
- Provide data-driven insights on talent markets, candidate availability, competitive intelligence, and search progress.
- Champion continuous improvement by thoughtfully integrating AI and automation into daily recruiting workflows to enhance process efficiency and the quality of hire.
Requirements:
- Significant experience leading executive searches across multiple functions, with demonstrated expertise recruiting senior Engineering and technical leadership roles.
- Proven ability to build trusted partnerships with executives, people leaders, and partners at all levels of an organization.
- Strong track record of developing and driving executive recruiting strategies that result in the successful hiring of exceptional talent.
- Deep knowledge of executive talent markets, sourcing strategies, assessment practices, and candidate engagement.
- Ability to assess leadership capabilities, business impact, organizational fit, and functional expertise.
- Experience managing external executive search firms and negotiating complex contracts and agreements.
- Demonstrated success developing, presenting, and negotiating complex executive compensation packages.
- Exceptional communication, consultation, influencing, and stakeholder-management skills.
- Strong attention to detail, sound judgment, and the ability to manage multiple complex searches in a fast-paced environment.
- Proactive and passionate about finding effective approaches, with a dedication to continuous improvement and operational excellence.
- Ability to handle critical and confidential information with discretion and professionalism.
Additional Details
The base pay range for this position is expected in the range below:
$166,000 - $221,600
Base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including location, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a target bonus and restricted stock units (as applicable) in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as PTO and parental leave). Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
If hired, employees will be in an "at-will position" and the Company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
