About the role:

As a Principal Engineer you will develop and review technical plans, specifications, and documentation for electric motor repair, manufacturing, and remanufacturing projects. You will provide hands-on technical leadership to both shop personnel and suppliers, ensuring quality through inspections, testing and resolution of non-conformances while supporting bid and proposal efforts.

You will report to the Manager of Rotating Equipment Services Engineering and be located at our Waltz Mill Facility, in Madison PA. This is a hybrid position with 2-3 days expected in office.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Create electric motor repair plans, drawings, technical specifications, or procurement documents.
  • Provide technical leadership to our onsite shop personnel as they inspect, repair, and manufacture motors
  • Support the bid and proposal process as a technical input lead for the manufacture of new replacement motors or remanufactures (including replacement of stator core and winding system).
  • Witness motor electrical testing at multiple steps through the manufacture and rewind process to ensure test specifications are achieved.
  • Apply technical expertise to disposition non-conformances and project documents generated by suppliers and the internal operations team.
  • Advise equipment owners (our customers) on inspections, maintenance, and troubleshooting of large electric motors
  • Work as part of a cross-functional team including quality engineering, supply chain management, technicians, and supplier teams
  • Determine critical equipment characteristics to support equipment qualification and commercial dedication activities


Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in electrical engineering or related discipline
  • 8 years minimum related experience in the field of electric motor design or manufacture
  • Working knowledge of manufacturing and test processes for low and medium voltage AC induction motors

We are committed to transparency and equity in all of our people practices. The base salary range for this position, which is dependent upon experience, qualifications and skills, is estimated to be $103,200 to $129,000 per year.
