Overview

Omega Technical Services is seeking a highly motivated Principal Engineer - Quality Control to support ongoing operations in Aiken, SC.

Supervise and direct quality control engineers assigned to perform inspections and surveillance in

support of project work and/or maintenance activities. Provide quality control support to

construction management and direct personnel to implement quality requirements and to

accurately status the results.

Responsibilities

DUTIES :
  • Supervise and direct quality control engineers assigned to perform inspections and surveillance in support of project work and/or maintenance activities.
  • Provide quality control support to construction management and direct personnel to implement quality requirements and to accurately status the results.
  • Establish priorities which support construction/operations needs.
  • Resolve complex problems which develop during the implementation of quality activities by coordinating with internal and external departments.
  • Provide leadership which inspires efficient performance of assignments, safe work habits, timely exchange of information and each individuals' commitment to site policies.
  • Participate in contract discussions relating to quality activities.
  • Prepare comprehensive status reports for construction quality activities.
  • Review and approve subcontractors quality procedures and monitor their adherence to those procedures.
  • Coordinate the activities of assigned quality control engineers and with other construction departments to ensure that construction is in compliance with site specifications and standards.
  • Prepare quality procedures to ensure proper inspection, testing and surveillance activities are being performed.
  • Provide effective quality training programs and ensure assigned personnel are qualified to perform assigned tasks.
  • Prepare performance evaluations of assigned personnel.
  • Develop, revise, and perform peer reviews of Quality Control Inspection Plans related to
    mechanical, piping and welding, in accordance with Design Output documents, Codes,
    and Standards.
  • Perform field related inspections in accordance with Quality Control Inspection Plans.
    Document inspection results on applicable inspection records and issue Non- Conformance reports as required.
  • Review product and process compliance with all specified drawings, specifications, and
    other requirements through inspection and/or review of supplied materials and equipment.


Education Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline and at least 8 - 10 years of practical experience in construction inspection or related areas.
  • An Associate's degree and 10 - 12 years of practical experience would be considered equivalent.
  • A high school diploma and 12 - 16 years of practical experience would also be considered equivalent. Well developed organizational and supervisory skills and good communication talents are required.
  • Certification in areas of responsibility are required with ongoing programmatic training per the requirements of the project quality program.


Qualifications

  • Candidate must be a U.S. Citizen.
  • Satisfactory results of a pre-employment screening, which includes a drug and breath alcohol test, along with a Motor Vehicle Record check.
  • Candidate must be able to obtain and maintain a DOE Security Clearance.
  • Prior work experience working under an ASME NQA-1 quality program.
  • Prior DOE work experience.
  • Well-developed organizational skills with good communication skills.

  • Well developed organizational and supervisory skills and good communication talents are required.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Possession of an active DOE/DoD clearance within the past two (2) years is preferred.
  • Previous DOE/NNSA work experience.
  • Practical field experience in mechanical, piping, and welding quality control within the
    past 16 months.
  • Candidates with an AWS CWI or prior SNT-TC-1A VT Level II certification are preferred.


Work Schedule

A 40 hour work week is scheduled. Client utilizes various work schedules including 5/8s (8 hour/day; five days per week), 4/10's (10 hours/day; four days per week), and 9/80's (9 hours/day, five days on week AA and four days on week BB. Work week excludes Client holidays. Each workday has 30-minute lunch. Overtime will be expected at times to meet deliverables and will be utilized at the discretion of the Manager.
