What you’ll be doing...
As a Principal Engineer, you will spearhead the design, creation, and upkeep of innovative solutions for connected devices and new form factors in the field of building clients for device data collection and providing insights from it . You will cultivate strategic technical alliances with both Internal groups within Verizon and external OEMs to broaden device insights from a broader device landscape and elevate the customer experience.
Mobile Client Infrastructure: Supporting building clients on both iOS and Android Devices to pull insights about device performance by building the On Prem Infrastructure required to process the data to build meaningful insights
Secure On-Prem Architecture: Architecting solutions for data processing , data engineering and maintain the On Prem hardware configurations compliant with Verizon Security .
Multi-Source Data Integration: Architecting and spearheading comprehensive data integration strategies from multifaceted origins to bolster Verizon device innovations.
Big Data Troubleshooting: Performing performance tuning, diagnose, and resolve complex big data and streaming technical issues.
Streaming Performance Tuning: Executing performance optimization while identifying and resolving intricate technical hurdles within big data and streaming environments.
High-Capacity Deployments: Developing and deploying high-capacity solutions throughout the technology landscape, encompassing data processing, database architecture, and network security.
QA & Integration Testing: Overseeing rigorous integration testing and offer expert guidance to quality assurance teams on enterprise-level initiatives.
Systems Lifecycle Management: Driving excellence in requirements gathering, project scoping, and the end-to-end lifecycle of system engineering and validation.
AI & Analytics Innovation: Maintaining a competitive edge by mastering evolving methodologies and global trends in artificial intelligence and big data analytics.
Framework Integration: Assessing and integrating cutting-edge external libraries and software frameworks to significantly augment product performance and functionality.

Individual dedicated to developing solutions that elevate the Customer Experience. You provide high-impact results by applying critical judgment to create innovative methodologies and evaluation standards. You are adept at conveying technical information to non-technical audiences and enjoy mentoring colleagues through your deep professional knowledge.
You’ll need to have:
Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience.
Six or more years of relevant experience required, demonstrated through one or a combination of work and/or military experience, or specialized training.
Experience designing and implementing data applications in production using Java, Python, or Scala on big data platforms, with deep expertise in big data technologies and data optimization techniques.
Experience with streaming technologies, specifically with a strong focus on Kafka, and various open-source software platforms (e.g., Apache ecosystem, Linux).
Even better if you have:
Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Data Science, or a related quantitative field.
Proven ability to optimize data flow and design efficient, scalable data pipelines, including data lakes and warehouses on containerized clusters.
Strong understanding of distributed data architecture concepts (e.g., caching, MapReduce, stream processing).
Solid knowledge of data security, governance, and compliance.
Proficiency in programming languages: Java, Python, Scala, and SQL.
Strong analytical capabilities, creativity, and critical thinking skills.
Effective written and verbal communication, with the ability to facilitate team collaboration.

In this hybrid role, you'll have a defined work location that includes working from home and a minimum of three days per week in the office, which will be set by your manager. Employees are responsible for maintaining compliance with hybrid work policies.

The salary will vary depending on your location and confirmed job-related skills and experience. This is an incentive based position with the potential to earn more. For part-time roles, your compensation will be adjusted to reflect your hours.
The annual salary range for the location(s) listed on this job requisition based on a full-time schedule is: $120,500.00 - $231,000.00.
