OverviewWho we're looking forToyota's Enterprise Data Department is looking for a passionate and highly motivated Data Platform Engineer.
The primary responsibility of this role is to design, develop & maintain scalable, reliable cloud & on-prem infrastructure for data platforms with automated self-service and AI accelerators.
Reporting to the Data Engineering Sr Manager, the person in this role will support the OneTech Enterprise Data Department's objective to build state-of-the-art data platforms and develop platform self service features.
What you'll be doing- Design, deploy and optimize enterprise analytics platforms supporting Tableau, Power BI, Alteryx, Essbase, and self-service data products while enabling conversational analytics, AI-assisted insights, natural language querying, and intelligent decision-support capabilities
- Lead the design, development, and continuous improvement of scalable, secure, resilient, and cost-optimized cloud centric data lakes, data warehouses, AI/ML workloads, and agentic solutions using Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, AWS CloudFormation, CDK, or equivalent)
- Engineer and automate the provisioning, configuration, governance, and lifecycle management of S3, Redshift, Databricks, SageMaker, Bedrock, Lambda, EC2, SNS, ElastiCache, Denodo, Datadog, and emerging AI tooling
- Build and maintain enterprise-grade CI/CD and MLOps pipelines, automated testing frameworks, release governance, infrastructure automation, and environment management processes to accelerate delivery of data products, machine learning models, and agentic workflows
- Support implementation of large-scale data engineering solutions utilizing Apache Spark, Scala, Python, Databricks, and modern ELT/ETL technologies
- Collaborate with data architects, Cyber Security and platform stakeholders to establish platform architecture, engineering standards governance frameworks, AI accelerators and technology roadmaps aligned with enterprise strategy
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to engineering teams by promoting best practices, reusable platform patterns, automation-first engineering principles, cloud-native architectures, and AI solutions while driving continuous innovation and operational excellence
- Implement comprehensive cloud security controls, automated platform health checks, monitoring, alerting, resiliency, data-quality validation, performance tuning, and cost observability while documenting designs, runbooks, and engineering standards
What you bring - Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field, or at least 7 years of relative professional experience
- 7+ years of experience designing, implementing, and supporting enterprise data, analytics, cloud, and AI platforms across AWS, Linux, and Windows environments
- Hands-on experience with administration, observability, monitoring, log management, alerting, and integration platforms including Tableau, Power BI, Alteryx, Datadog, and related tools
- Strong expertise in Infrastructure as Code, cloud automation, and platform engineering using Terraform, AWS CloudFormation, CDK, and/or similar technologies
- Proven experience developing scalable data engineering, analytics, AI/ML, GenAI, and agentic AI solutions using Python, SQL, Spark, Scala, Databricks, and/or modern ELT/ETL frameworks
- Strong knowledge of DevOps, DataOps, MLOps, CI/CD, automated testing, release management, and environment automation using GitHub, Jenkins, Ansible, Chef, or equivalent platforms
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, communication, and leadership skills with experience defining architecture standards, mentoring engineers, and collaborating across business and technology teams
Added bonus if you have - Certifications in AWS & Databricks
- Experience with enterprise data-platform administration, observability, FinOps, or Site Reliability Engineering practices
- Experience developing APIs or full-stack capabilities using technologies such as React, Node.js, or REST services
- Working knowledge of cloud security, IAM, encryption, resiliency, AI governance, model monitoring, compliance, performance optimization, and FinOps cost management practices
