Job Description

This role is part of a wider technology team (Direct-to-Consumer Technology) focused on product offerings including Peacock across NBC Universal and Comcast. A Principal End-to-End Architect provides architectural design oversight across multiple development projects working closely with Business/Product stakeholders at an early proposition stage to shape Technology's approach to support a product/proposition.

This role will require on-going engagement and close collaboration with other architects, software delivery teams and external partners where the Principal End-to-End Architect will lead the teams in defining an appropriate solution to deliver a product or proposition; providing specific expertise and support around key areas such as content acquisition, media supply chain, video playout, content management systems, data platforms, artificial intelligence, machine learning, infrastructure and data security.

The focus of your work will be in leading the detailed technical solution design to help iteratively evolve our platform to support all customer journeys and Global Streaming Platform products, including (but not limited to):
  • To join a small team with big responsibility; shaping the architecture across the breadth of the technologies that support Global Streaming products.
  • To have specific focus on video content lifecycle and video streaming technologies; core elements that underpin the success of Peacock and its unique experience.
  • To take the end-to-end architectural lead; driving collaboration across multiple technical and agile development teams between US and Europe. To deliver the next generation of Direct-to-Consumer world-class video distribution platforms for on-demand, linear and live content
  • To become an acknowledged expert who can represent the capabilities of Global Streaming's technologies in the evolution of our Direct-to-Consumer business strategy, including the evaluation of potential initiatives and their financial justification.
  • To communicate across all levels of the technology organization and to senior business stakeholders.
  • Map business requirements to system or technical requirements.
  • Design and develop technical solutions that meet the needs of both internal and external customers.
  • Work with technology subject matter experts in shared design forums to peer review, improve and iterate on technical solutions.
  • Investigate cutting-edge tools, including Generative AI, that could provide automation and efficiency improvements to drive greater productivity and innovative customer experiences.


Qualifications
  • 7+ year's experience operating effectively in a technical leadership role, responsible for architectural definition and direction across an estate of comparable scale and complexity.
  • A demonstrable faculty to build a consensus or to take a more direct decision, if deemed more adequate.
  • Proven track record of defining and advocating for the best solution when consensus cannot be reached.
  • Exceptional communications skills assisted by an aptitude to produce diagrams and design documents of executive quality
  • An ability to assess the technical detail required to reach a broad diversity of stakeholders from deeply technical subject-matter-experts to non-technical business stakeholders.
  • A well-exercised ability to cut through complex amorphous problem-domains to isolate the key issues and provide clear, concise, and well-reasoned directions.
  • Ability to "look around corners" for the business, selecting solutions for the long-term strategy.
  • Understands the needs of business, product, and technology. Demonstrates the ability to apply this knowledge to architectures.
  • A multi-disciplinary technology all-rounder with a broad knowledge of the technologies used within digital media industries.
  • An enquiring-mind with a relentless interest in wider technology trends and their pragmatic application to business challenges.

Desired Qualifications and Experience:
  • High scale / public cloud-based OTT video distribution platform.
  • CDN architecture and cloud-based deployment.
  • OTT Video delivery to diverse clients (mobile, tablet, PC, Connect TV, Games Console, STB.)
  • Video packaging and OTT streaming (DASH, HLS, CMAF)
  • DRM solutions (Google Widevine, MS PlayReady, Adobe Primetime, Apple FairPlay)
  • Enhanced video technologies (UHD HDR, Dolby ATMOS, client and server-side dynamic ad insertion, low latency streaming.)
  • HTML-5 / mobile device / smart TV / JS-based video player.
  • Capture and analysis of Video Quality and User Experience Metrics.
  • Monitoring and management of video delivery for live, linear and on-demand content.


Hybrid: This position currently has a hybrid schedule, which requires contributing from the office a minimum of four days per week. The Company reserves the right to change in-office requirements at any time.

Salary range: $195,000 - $230,000 (bonus and long-term incentive eligible)
