About The Job

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Principal Cyber Security Engineer to join the Parry Labs team in the Detroit metro area. In this role, you will design and implement Zero Trust Architecture, lead cyber security best practices, and support edge device security across a range of systems and networks. You will also educate both customers and internal engineering teams to ensure consistent, secure, and modern cyber practices.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Stay current on emerging and future security standards, best practices, and industry trends; participate in relevant industry groups to help shape standards.
  • Develop, plan, and implement Zero Trust adoption across product lines.
  • Coordinate Zero Trust Architecture integration with safety requirements while ensuring compliance with RMF 4/5 expectations for ATO.
  • Prototype and implement advanced security controls for next-generation avionics platforms.
  • Conduct risk assessments and vulnerability analyses to identify and prioritize security weaknesses.
  • Develop, plan, and implement security controls to mitigate identified risks.
  • Perform security testing and evaluation on unique systems and dynamic, purpose-built networks.
  • Serve as the primary cyber security technical point of contact for DoD or prime customers for one or more software or system product lines.
  • Promote and strengthen a positive cyber security culture across systems, software, and integration teams.
  • Write, review, and validate Zero Trust system specifications and requirements.
  • Maintain knowledge of emerging security technologies and industry best practices.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in information systems security engineering.
  • Knowledge of security standards and frameworks such as NIST, RMF, and ISO.
  • Deep understanding of Zero-Trust principles or experience implementing Zero-Trust architectures.
  • Experience with assessing the security posture of one or more of the following. Linux, Embedded Linux, VxWorks, Lynx, or Windows Operating Systems configurations and deployments.
  • Experience with security technology such as firewalls, endpoint security, application whitelisting, intrusion detection/prevention systems, and encryption.
  • Experience securing software containers and orchestration stacks running either Docker, Kubernetes, or RedHat OpenShift through all phases of the software development lifecycle.
  • Hold a DoDM 8140.03 compliant certification such as Security +, CISSP or CEH.
  • U.S. Citizenship required. Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Security Clearance (if not already acquired).


Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field. 7+ years of experience in information systems security engineering.
  • Previous experience as a systems engineer or software engineer in the DoD or Aerospace field highly desired.
  • Previous software engineering or software integration experience. Java, C, C++, Python.
  • Anti-Tamper experience with DoD weapon systems.
  • Experience with penetration testing frameworks such as Metasploit, Burpsuite, Libfuzzer.
  • Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) certification, Offensive Security Certified Professional (OSCP) certification, or Certified Information Security Manager (CISM).
  • DoD Top Secret Security Clearance.
