Full Job Description
Division/Departmental test development/innovation platform leader who develops, innovates, evaluates, and implements novel/new tests, methodologies, technologies, or products for the laboratory under the intellectual and scientific guidance of laboratory directors and senior principal developer. Test development/innovation platform leader responsible for development/innovation support of multiple projects across the division/department. Responsible for improvement of existing methods or implementation of novel technology of proven validity. Test development/innovation platform leader on cross-departmental teams, including Bioinformatics and IT, to create final recommendations to the laboratory directors and supervisors in the evaluation of novel laboratory equipment, instrumentation, procedures, and computer software and hardware. Test development/innovation platform leader and mentor for test development /innovation staff. **This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship. Also, Mayo Clinic DOES NOT participate in the F-1 STEM OPT extension program** We require a two year commitment to this role Qualifications Bachelor's degree in clinical/medical laboratory science (CLS/MLS), medical technology (MT), chemistry, biological science from an accredited institution or bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in addition to a certificate in MLS. Six years of relevant laboratory experience; or a Master's degree from an accredited institution in chemical, physical, biological, clinical laboratory science or medical technology and four years of relevant laboratory experience; or a Doctoral degree in chemistry or a biological science and two years of relevant laboratory experience. A HEW certificate may be substituted for the specified degree. Other clinical laboratory specialty certificates will be reviewed and approved on a case-by-case basis. Master's degree or Doctoral (PhD) degree from an accredited institution in chemical, physical, biological, clinical laboratory science or medical technology preferred. Test development/innovation leader for multiple complex cross-area projects. Additional Qualifications 37 Demonstrated ability to work independently with a high degree of initiative, organization, and efficiency while exercising sound judgment, decision-making, and project management skills. 37 Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate across multidisciplinary teams. 37 Proven ability to interpret and apply scientific literature, reference materials, and existing methodologies to develop and implement innovative laboratory methods, processes, or products. 37 Adaptable and flexible in managing multiple projects involving diverse technologies, platforms, and scientific disciplines. 37 Strong analytical, problem-solving, and scientific expertise with comprehensive knowledge of laboratory procedures and best practices. 37 Extensive experience with Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) technologies, including assay development, optimization, validation, and data interpretation. License or Certification: ASCP or other certification pertinent to the laboratory field may be required depending on the laboratory specialty and prevailing regulatory requirements. Employees obtaining CT certification(s) after January 1, 2004 will be required to demonstrate evidence of ongoing maintenance of certification. Employees obtaining SCT certification(s) after January 1, 2006 will be required to demonstrate evidence of ongoing maintenance of certification.
