Principal Data Scientist to support Machine Learning and Predictive Analytics. The selected candidate will be required to work on-site, full-time at our
Melbourne, FL location.
We are seeking a first-principles thinker and skilled data scientist to solve complex data challenges. This is not a role for operating pre-built tools; this is an opportunity to architect and build the core data logic of our systems. You will be responsible for creating custom, high-performance statistics and machine learning tools from the ground up, making meaning of complex data sets. Your work will involve deep data modeling, abstracting reusable patterns, and writing modular, maintainable code that stands the test of time.

The responsibilities of this role include, but are not limited to, the following:
Collaborate closely with software engineers, analysts, and other data scientists to understand data requirements and deliver robust, integrated solutions.
Architect and develop custom, maintainable data science solutions from the ground up.
Write and maintain tests and documentation for data architecture, workflows, and processes.
Champion software engineering best practices within the data domain, including comprehensive unit/integration testing, CI/CD automation (Git, Docker), and robust documentation.
Tune and optimize complex algorithms within our on-premise infrastructure.
Create and implement cuttingedge technologies powered by Artificial Intelligence (AI).
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor of Science degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Industrial Engineering, Applied Mathematics, or related field, with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience, OR Master of Science degree in relevant fields with 3 years of relevant experience
Must have a Security+ security certification (or greater) to be considered
Candidates must have a current US Government TopSecret level security clearance (at a minimum) in order to be considered
Experience with IT systems (Windows and/or Linux)
Experience with Graphic Design/Data Visualization
Deep understanding of Machine Learning and Deep Learning
Experience in software development and/or data engineering
Python and SQL programming experience
Experience building Tableau and Power BI Dashboards
Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and version control (e.g., Git, Docker, etc.)
Preferred Qualifications:
Masters degree or higher, in Data Science, Artificial Intelligence (AI) or related discipline
Experience with Python, SQL, Tableau, Airflow, Denodo, Atlassian Jira.
Experience with machine learning pipelines and data science workflows.
Familiarity with SQL Alchemy, Numpy, Pandas, SKLearn, PyTorch.
Ability to troubleshoot and optimize complex data queries and workflows.
Familiarity with big data concepts, machine learning pipelines, and natural language processing (NLP).
Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot and optimize across the entire data stack.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Primary Level Salary Range: $108,200.00 - $164,200.00
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidates experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
