Full Job Description
Are you energized by shaping products that solve meaningful customer and business problems? Do you thrive in fast-paced, client-facing environments where you bring clarity to ambiguity, align cross-functional teams, and turn product strategy into practical execution? Does helping organizations make better product decisions and deliver measurable outcomes excite you?

In this role, you'll do more than maintain a roadmap or manage a backlog. You'll work with business leaders, customers, design, research, data, engineering, operations, and other stakeholders to identify the right problems, evaluate tradeoffs, establish priorities, and deliver products that achieve measurable outcomes.

What You Could Be Doing:

While every project we work on is different, and every role unique, below is a high-level overview of some of the responsibilities/hats you may wear while in our Transform practice:
  • Own a digital product, product area, or product workstream based on each client's needs and maturity.
  • Translate business objectives, customer needs, market insights, and technology considerations into product strategies, priorities, and roadmaps.
  • Partner with research, design, analytics, engineering, and customer-facing teams to turn discovery insights into product decisions.
  • Help clients evolve their product management capabilities by leveraging AI, emerging technologies, and modern product management best practices to improve how teams build and deliver products.
  • Define and prioritize capabilities, features, releases, and backlogs based on value, feasibility, risk, and dependencies.
  • Create product requirements, user stories, acceptance criteria, release plans, and decision documents that move teams from concept to delivery.
  • Facilitate planning, prioritization, roadmap, and stakeholder sessions that drive alignment and timely decisions.
  • Evaluate product and technical tradeoffs while balancing customer value, business goals, delivery constraints, cost, and risk.
  • Define and monitor product metrics tied to adoption, customer value, revenue, retention, efficiency, or quality.
  • Support launches, adoption, and post-launch measurement when required by the engagement.
  • Present recommendations, progress, risks, and decisions to client stakeholders and senior leaders.
  • Contribute to proposals, sales presentations, and other product-focused business development efforts.

What You Bring to the Table:

When you join Torq, you're a consultant first. That means bringing structure to ambiguity, building trust with clients, and helping teams move from strategy to execution. At the Senior Consultant level, we expect you to do that with greater independence, stronger judgment, and a higher level of ownership.

Core Consulting Strengths
  • Ideally 7+ years of experience in product management, consulting, digital delivery, technology transformation, or a similar environment.
  • Demonstrated experience owning a product, product area, or substantial product workstream.
  • Ability to connect customer problems and business objectives to product vision, strategy, roadmaps, requirements, and measurable outcomes.
  • Excellent problem-solving and communication skills, with comfort operating in fast-paced, ambiguous client environments.
  • Proven ability to build relationships across product, business, technology, design, data, operations, and leadership teams.
  • Experience defining roadmaps, backlogs, capabilities, features, releases, and supporting product artifacts.
  • Working knowledge of Agile, Scrum, Kanban, hybrid delivery, or similar product development approaches.
  • Ability to partner with discovery teams and turn customer, research, design, and data insights into product decisions.
  • A business-minded, technically fluent approach, with familiarity with APIs, integrations, data flows, platforms, cloud environments, and software delivery.
  • Ability to balance product outcomes with delivery quality, stakeholder alignment, and team execution.
  • High self-awareness, openness to feedback, and accountability for client, product, and team outcomes.

Leadership and Team Impact

At the Principal Consultant level, strong individual delivery is assumed. We're looking for people who can lead others, raise standards, and make complex work easier for the team and client to navigate.
  • Ability to lead consultants and senior consultants through clear direction, thoughtful delegation, feedback, context-setting, and work review.
  • Comfortable setting high but realistic standards for quality, communication, problem-solving, and follow-through.
  • Ability to stay composed under pressure and help teams remain focused during complex, fast-moving, or high-stakes situations.
  • Strong team orientation, including a willingness to coach others, share knowledge, and contribute to a positive team environment.
  • Ability to adapt when priorities change, timelines shift, stakeholder expectations evolve, or client needs become more complex.
  • Sound judgment when making decisions, escalating issues, resolving conflicts, and balancing client needs, team dynamics, delivery risks, and Torq's standards.
  • Ability to create trust with clients and teammates through reliability, professionalism, candor, and follow-through.
  • Ability to model strong consulting behaviors and help others understand what good looks like.

Business Development and Relationship Growth

Principal Consultants at Torq are not expected to be salespeople first. But they are expected to build trusted client relationships, recognize where Torq can add value, and help turn strong delivery into future opportunity.
  • Ability to identify client pain points, future needs, new initiatives, renewal opportunities, or areas where Torq can provide additional support.
  • Comfortable building relationships with stakeholders beyond the immediate project team, including senior leaders and decision-makers.
  • Ability to contribute to proposals, sales conversations, solutioning discussions, client presentations, and account growth strategies.
  • Strong client presence, including the ability to build credibility through delivery, communication, judgment, and genuine partnership.
  • Ability to share relevant examples, success stories, or lessons learned in a way that helps clients understand potential value.
  • Comfortable collaborating with other Torq experts to shape practical, feasible solutions for clients.
  • Ability to balance relationship-building with delivery accountability, ensuring clients see Torq as a partner that solves real problems rather than simply fills roles

Bonus Experience

Experience in the following areas is a plus:
  • Product tools such as Jira, Confluence, Amazon Kiro, Apptio, Miro, Figma, or PowerPoint.
  • Product launches, go-to-market planning, release readiness, adoption, or change management.
  • Enterprise platforms, cloud or data products, APIs, integrations, internal tools, mobile, or customer-facing digital experiences.
  • Pricing, product positioning, competitive research, portfolio decisions, or regulated environments.
