The Senior Coastal Engineer/Specialist / Project Manager is a full-time position based in Vancouver, BC. Canada. Will also consider providing relocation expenses.
Overall Responsibilities and Key Accountabilities:- Project management of small to medium sized projects (up to $1m).
- Manage and liaise with project team members, clients, sub-consultants, contractors and regulatory and environmental approval agencies.
- Liaise with clients to determine client requirements and prepare proposals, design work cost estimates, and project scheduling.
- Oversee and review detailed analyses, modelling, reports, design and drawings as required for coastal projects.
- Prepare or review design criteria and construction specifications.
- Oversee preparation of quantity take-offs and assist in the preparation of capital cost estimates.
- Conduct peer reviews and facilitate quality assurance reviews.
- Undertake, supervise and provide technical mentorship to junior team members.
- Actively engage with internal and external clients for business development.
- Actively encourage and support a safety-oriented culture
Qualifications:- The ideal candidate will have a degree in civil or coastal engineering, or a related discipline from an accredited post-secondary institution (a master's degree is preferred).
- a BC P.ENG is a requirement. OR will be receiving their P.Eng within 6 months of starting.
- 10-20 years prior experience in coastal and ocean engineering/research, project management or a related discipline.
- Registered or eligibility for registration with Engineers and Geoscientists British Columbia as a Professional Engineer.
- Experience with the following:
- Coastal analysis and modelling such as metocean analysis, hydrodynamics, current and circulation, sediment transport, plume dispersion and water quality.
- Assessment of tide, wind and wave forces.
- Condition assessment of shorelines including coastal structures such as breakwaters, revetments and groynes.
- Design of coastal and marine structures such as breakwaters, revetments, shoreline protection.
- Harbour layouts including dredging, layout of marinas and small craft harbours, mooring analysis.
- Construction supervision of coastal works.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills and communication skills (written and verbal).
- Knowledgeable in the use of software packages such as MIKE 21, Delft 3D, Optimoor and MatLab.
For applicants based in the province of British Columbia, the salary range is $118,711 to $194,924 CAD.
