Job Summary
The Troy City Board of Education is accepting applications for the following certified position.
PRINCIPAL
Qualifications:
• Master's degree or higher from an accredited college or university
• Minimum of three years successful experience in public education, with prior administrative experience required
• Valid Alabama certification in administration, supervision, or educational leadership
• Strong oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse groups, including students, faculty, staff, parents, and community members
• Ability to organize, delegate, and supervise effectively
• Skill in evaluating faculty and staff, providing constructive feedback, and promoting professional growth
• Experience in collaborative planning with faculty, staff, and central office to enhance school improvement and student achievement
• Proficiency in using technology for communication, presentation, research, data analysis, budgeting, record-keeping, reporting, and scheduling
• Knowledge of educational trends, curriculum development, school supervision, classroom practices, and staff development
• Familiarity with special education laws, policies, and procedures
• Understanding of Board policies, procedures, and safety regulations
• Any other qualifications the Board may deem appropriate and acceptable

SUPERVISES: Assistant principal(s), teachers, school support staff
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITES:
Leadership and Vision
• Embrace and promote the school system's mission, vision, beliefs, and goals
• Leads in a manner that maximizes the educational benefits to those who receive school services
• Provides leadership in the school improvement process and the implementation of school improvement plans, accreditation and accountability reports, and other required plans
• Demonstrates initiative in the performance of assigned responsibilities
Compliance and Policy Adherence
• Understand and assist in upholding and enforcing school rules, administrative regulations, and Board policy
• Abide by the standards established for conduct referenced in the Alabama Educator Code of Ethics, which defines the professional behavior of educators in Alabama and serves as a guide to ethical conduct
• Adheres to federal, state, and local laws as well as the rules, regulations, and policies of the school system
• Maintain confidentiality regarding school/workplace matters
Personnel Management and Development
• Interviews and selects qualified personnel to be recommended for employment
• Manages and supervises the effective use of personnel
• Supervises assigned personnel, conducts annual performance appraisals, and makes recommendations for appropriate employment action
• Assigns and supervises special tasks and assignments for all school personnel
• Administers and develops instructional and non-instructional duty rosters
• Manages and administers personnel development through training, in-service, and other developmental activities
• Orients assigned staff members and assists in professional development
• Communicates, through face-to-face meetings and written correspondence, information to notify faculty and staff of policies, procedures, and instructional program changes/updates
Instructional Leadership
• Plans, promotes, implements, supervises, and evaluates effective instructional and related programs to maximize student achievement
• Manages and administers the instructional program according to state and school system guidelines to ensure all students can learn
• Models appropriate and innovative use of technology for faculty, staff, and students
• Facilitates and monitors the integration of technology in the classroom
• Coordinates the supervision of school extracurricular programs
• Supervises the school counseling program to ensure student educational and developmental needs are met
Budget and Financial Management
• Manages and supervises school financial resources, including the preparation and disbursement of the school budget and internal accounts
• Adheres to state statutes and system policies related to accounting to ensure judicious management of school funds
Facilities and Safety Management
• Coordinates school safety plans and facility inspections at the school
• Provides a quick response to any emergency involving students, staff, or the school facility
• Maintains high visibility within the facility
• Supervises the orderly movement and safety of transportation services on school grounds
Student Discipline and Support
• Established guidelines for proper student conduct and implements disciplinary procedures and policies that ensure a safe and orderly environment
Community and Stakeholder Relations
• Directs staff in developing positive school/community/business/civic relations
Communication and reporting
• Informs the superintendent of potential problems or unusual events
• Responds to inquiries and concerns in a timely manner
Operational and Administrative Duties
• Participate in the efficient and effective operation of the school and school system, including meetings, assigned duties, and committee responsibilities
• Maintain accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, Board policy, and administrative regulation
• Accept no other employment that interferes with the efficient and effective discharge of duties and responsibilities
• Approve school-sponsored activities and maintain a calendar of all school events
• Manages and administers the testing program for the school
• Established and manages student accounting, grading, and attendance procedures
• Maintains accountability of property inventory records and security of school property
• Reports absences and takes leave in accordance with Board policies and procedures
• Perform other related duties as assigned by the Superintendent
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Twelve (12) month contract as approved by Board
EVALUATION:
Performance evaluated in accordance with Board policy
SALARY:
Board approved salary schedule
All positions with the Troy City Board of Education require submission of a copy of current driver's license or valid picture identification, a copy of Social Security card, and background clearance through the State of Alabama Department of Education. Certified positons also required submission of valid teaching certificate (Alabama or out-of-state) as well as unofficial transcripts indicating all coursework and degree conferral date(s) from regionally accredited colleges/universities.
