PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Serve as the Platform Architect overseeing the overall technical direction of the platform.

  • Leads and provides high level architecture for complex and cross functional POCs, pilots, and projects.

  • Reform the release and governance processes to reduce technical debt and manual effort needed for production releases.

  • Serve as a mentor for the staff of developers leading them in best practices for development and architecture.

  • Provide guidance to ITSM, ITOM, SECOPS, HRSD, SPM, EA, GRC, and custom applications among others to product owners, developers and implementation partners.

  • Provide technical direction to the operations team on priorities to keep the platform in a healthy state.

  • Run the weekly governance board to provide development teams guidance and technical direction to reduce / prevent undue technical debt.

  • Establish development best practices articles building off of ServiceNow published best practices.

  • Perform frequent instance reviews that helped drive the technical direction to reduce technical debt on the platform.

  • Own the CI/CD and best practices tools for use within ServiceNow to streamline processes and increase efficiency (ie xType).

  • Establish other standard architectural principles, patterns, and processes (ie AI patterns)

  • Optimize strategy, capabilities, roadmaps, and application portfolios in close partnership with stakeholders.

  • Analyzes current architectures to identify weaknesses and develop opportunities for improvements

  • Provides strategic consultation to IT Leaders and other ITI architects

  • Contributes to the IT strategy and ensures alignment with architectural strategy and business goals

  • Coordinates with Application Architects on Delivery teams to ensure alignment with Enterprise Architecture patterns and practices

  • May provide oversight of architects and their daily activities including setting objectives, measuring performance, and cultivating career growth

  • Other duties as assigned

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Computer Engineering, System Analysis or a related field or equivalent work experience.
  • Typically has fifteen (15) or more years of IT and business/industry work experience including architecture design and deployment and systems lifecycle management
  • Three (3) experience in leading multiple, large, cross-functional projects, and influencing senior level management and key stakeholders.  Requires exposure to multiple, diverse technologies and processing environments.

MINIMUM SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITY REQUIREMENTS:

  • Proficient communication skills and experience in mentoring/leading teams
  • Ability to translate complicated business requirements into multiple solution options and explain the pros/cons of various approaches
  • Deep understanding of business strategy and ability to translate strategy into system and technology solutions.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing; ability to communicate with customers, associates and management; solid teamwork and interpersonal skills
  • Strong presentation skills: ability to present and discuss strategies and technical information in a manner that establishes rapport, persuades others, and gains understanding
  • Ability to establish solid relationships with vendors in support of initiatives; ability to negotiate and manage outside vendors against deliverables.
