Role

As a Principal Consultant, you will play a significant role in growing our Gulf Coast base of oil and gas clients and our team of air quality professionals in Texas and Louisiana. We will rely on you to help lead the expansion of our business in the largest oil and gas producing region in the U.S. You will lead consulting projects for key oil and gas clients, expand our oil and gas industry business, mentor rising talent, and foster a culture of growth and excellence.

The ideal candidate will:
  • Drive new client growth and expand consulting sales in the oil and gas sector
    Serve as a trusted advisor to industry clients, regulators, and stakeholders
  • Provide deep technical expertise in air quality permitting, compliance, and U.S. regulatory frameworks, including state requirements
  • Demonstrate subject matter leadership in air quality compliance solutions across upstream, midstream, and downstream operations
  • Build, manage, and grow strong client relationships, maintaining a diverse and active client portfolio
  • Lead business development efforts, including sales strategy, proposal development, and positioning of differentiated value
  • Leverage market intelligence and industry networks to identify opportunities and strengthen competitive positioning
  • Collaborate across teams to drive cross selling, share insights, and develop new services aligned to market needs
  • Lead major client projects to ensure successful delivery, deepen client understanding, and generate repeat work
  • Mentor staff and support development of marketing materials, thought leadership, and client communications


Responsibilities
  • Apply extensive environmental, regulatory, and technical knowledge of the oil and gas industry to design and deliver effective air quality permitting and compliance services to upstream, midstream, and downstream oil and gas clients.
  • Be client facing and leverage deep expertise in air quality permitting, and compliance to effectively advance client strategies and cultivate new client relationships.
  • Develop effective marketing strategies and sales tactics that lead to increased oil and gas business.
  • Cultivate long-term client satisfaction, retention, and loyalty.
  • Develop successful approaches to identify new opportunities and develop winning value propositions and proposals.
  • Provide clear, concise business-focused findings, recommendations, and options regarding client documentation.

  • The salary range for this position is $175,000 - $225,000. Final agreed upon compensation will be commensurate with individual education, professional designation, experience, internal parity, and location.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor and/or Master of Science degree(s) in Engineering, Environmental Science, or a related field
  • 15-20 years' experience in providing successful air quality consulting and/or in-house services to the oil and gas sector, including demonstrated success leading complex, multi-stakeholder projects.
  • Strong experience in consulting, client relationship management, and business development.
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. and state air quality regulations and permitting requirements applicable to the Gulf Coast oil and gas industry, with strong experience in regulatory applicability analysis and interpretation.
  • Established reputation in the oil and gas industry, with demonstrated credibility and visibility through regulatory engagement, client relationships, published work, conference participation, or industry association involvement.
  • Demonstrated ability to mentor and inspire technical teams.
  • Excellent communication and people skills, including negotiation, facilitation, and executive-level presentation.
  • Strong written communication skills for proposal/report writing, technical and marketing presentations, and peer review capabilities.
  • Professional Designation with appropriate Professional Organization.
