This opportunity resides with Warfare Systems (WS), a business group within HII's Mission Technologies division. Warfare Systems comprises cyber and mission IT; electronic warfare; and C5ISR systems.

Job Description

HII, Mission Technologies has a need for an AI/ML Engineer who will be responsible for designing advanced model architectures, developing machine learning pipelines, and optimizing AI systems for operational deployment in government and mission critical environments. This role involves hands on development of deep learning, metric learning, and neuro-symbolic models, as well as stewardship of complex data pipelines and edge optimized solutions.

Essential Job Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and train Metric Learning (Prototypical) networks, Neuro-Symbolic models (e.g., Bayesian Belief Networks), and other advanced AI systems.
  • Oversee, maintain, and improve Sim-to-Real (GAN-based) pipelines to support robust model training and domain adaptation.
  • Lead edge deployment optimization efforts to ensure models operate efficiently in resource constrained environments.
  • Research, design, and apply machine learning, deep learning, and visual AI algorithms to diverse data sets to build models for operational use.
  • Develop hypotheses using data analysis and trend identification; compare real time performance against predicted outcomes to refine models and algorithms.
  • Create and implement assessment and validation methodologies to ensure production models are stable, accurate, robust, and aligned with mission objectives.
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, business units, and key stakeholders to define requirements, share insights, and ensure technical alignment.
  • Provide expert technical solutions to complex and ambiguous problems using a broad understanding of machine learning principles and related disciplines.


Minimum Qualifications

  • 7 years relevant experience with Bachelors in related field; 3 years relevant experience with Masters in realted field; 0 years experience with PhD or Juris Doctorate in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 12 years relevant experience.
  • Complete understanding and wide application of machine learning and AI principles, theories, and concepts.
  • General knowledge of adjacent technical fields and the ability to integrate multi-domain perspectives.
  • Proven ability to architect and implement ML/DL systems in production or mission critical environments.
  • Demonstrated experience solving complex problems through innovative and technically sound approaches.
  • Experience supporting DoD programs.
  • Clearance: Secret security clearance


Physical Requirements

  • May require working in an office, industrial, or laboratory environment. Capable of climbing ladders and tolerating confined spaces and extreme temperature variances.
