About this position

Reporting to the Mining Operations Manager, the Principal Advisor - Continuous Improvement is responsible for the continuous improvement program of the mining operation. He/she supports the teams in carrying out initiatives designed to create value, increase efficiency and maintain the company's competitiveness.

He/she trains, coaches and supports the teams in adopting continuous improvement and project management best practices. As the main facilitator working with management, he/she identifies, structures and prioritizes the projects with the greatest potential impact on site performance and productivity.

Key responsibilities
  • Launch, organize and manage the implementation of the continuous improvement program at Éléonore, using proven best practices and tools.
  • Ensure the governance and prioritization of the portfolio of initiatives based on their value potential, strategic alignment and execution capacity.
  • Support managers in carrying out the most complex and strategic initiatives by providing advice, technical expertise and methodological support.
  • Develop and maintain the site's key performance indicators and productivity metrics, including performance dashboards and reports in Power BI and Excel.
  • Track the delivery and the long-term sustainability of the benefits associated with improvement initiatives.
  • Coordinate and facilitate improvement workshops, diagnostic sessions and problem-solving exercises with the operations and management teams.
  • Conduct process analyses and in-depth diagnostics in order to identify improvement opportunities and propose sustainable solutions.
  • Facilitate the assessment and implementation of innovative technologies and best practices from the industry or from other operations.
  • Manage external consultant mandates, validate deliverables and ensure the integration of recommendations.
  • Document standardized processes, operating procedures and best practices, and support change management.
  • Support site activity planning as well as the preparation and optimization of operating budgets.
  • Provide the site and external management teams with analyses, reports and presentations on performance, costs, productivity and improvement opportunities, and formulate strategic recommendations.
  • Contribute to the development of a continuous improvement culture by fostering ownership of the tools, team accountability and the sustainability of the gains.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or in a field related to business, operations administration or industrial engineering, or equivalent experience
  • Excellent command of project management and continuous improvement approaches and best practices
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel (data analysis, modelling, automation) and demonstrated experience in creating reports and dashboards
  • Skills in Power BI or similar data visualization tools (significant asset); ability to create interactive dashboards and performance reports
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in French and a proven ability to communicate effectively with both business and technical personnel
  • Candidates who demonstrate intermediate to advanced oral and written communication skills in English will be given preference
  • 5 to 10 years of combined experience in a mining environment
  • Experience leading and coordinating meetings and workshops for small and large groups, with excellent presentation and process facilitation skills
  • Experience in organizational change management and stakeholder management
  • Experience producing executive presentations and reports; proven ability to make effective use of the Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

Working conditions
  • Schedule: eight (8) days of work followed by six (6) days off
  • Éléonore mine site (Fly-in, Fly-out from Montréal, Chibougamau, Matagami, Rouyn-Noranda, Val-d'Or and Wemindji)
