Description

We are seeking a Principal Accountant to join our team. This is a hybrid opportunity based out of our Waltham, MA office.

Job Summary

The Principal Accountant is responsible for executing Imprivata's international accounting functions and assisting with global technical accounting. The day-to-day functions include journal entries, month-end close reconciliations, accounts payable review, cash management and local tax filings. The position requires ownership of the accounting processes for multiple international entities, strong technical accounting expertise, attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and the ability to strategically collaborate cross-functionally.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Execute the international monthly financial close process. This includes ensuring all costs incurred are properly recorded, posting journal entries, preparing account balance reconciliations and reports.
  • Assist with complex technical accounting research and special projects, as needed.
  • Support and review international accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll accounting, identifying discrepancies, and reconciling accounts.
  • Partner with Treasury to optimize cash flows by performing bank reconciliations for all international banks and supporting incoming and outgoing wires.
  • Partner with HR to ensure timely payment of all international payrolls.
  • Collaborate with outside consultants to ensure successful domestic and international audit results and compliance for all subsidiaries.
  • Prepare detailed journal entries and account analyses.
  • Support the Accounting Manager in the identification of workflow process improvements.
  • Partner with third party service providers to ensure all local reporting requirements are met including, but not limited to, Value-Added Tax.
  • Other duties as assigned and required


Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting and CPA required. Other advanced credentials preferred (e.g. MBA).
  • 5-7 years of professional experience - public required but a mix of public accounting and private industry experience preferred.
  • Software or other technology industry experience preferred.
  • Excellent technical accounting skills required, including strong knowledge and experience with US GAAP.
  • Advanced Excel Skills as well as excellent organizational skills.
  • Experience with NetSuite is preferred. Coupa, Concur, FloQast and Salesforce experience a plus.
  • Ability to leverage AI-enabled tools to enhance productivity and automate financial processes a plus.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Excellent written, oral, and presentation communication skills.


This position offers a total compensation range of $135,000.00 to $145,000.00 (inclusive of base salary and variable compensation, such as bonuses and incentives). In addition, more information about Imprivata's benefit offerings can be found here. This range represents the high and low end of Imprivata's compensation range for this position. Actual compensation will vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors, such as a candidate's location, skills, experience, and qualifications.
