PRIMARY PURPOSE: The Pricing & Cost Manager - Cleveland, TN is responsible for supporting all Cleveland-based pricing, quoting, cost estimating, profitability analysis, and customer pricing activities. The role serves as a key finance business partner to Commercial, Operations, Supply Chain, Technical Services, and Site Leadership to ensure accurate cost models, commercially sound pricing decisions, and disciplined margin management.
This position supports enterprise pricing governance, material cost recovery initiatives, EBITDA expansion, and operational decision-making within a private-equity-backed CDMO manufacturing environment. The role works closely with the Director of Finance - Cleveland, enterprise pricing leadership, Operations, and Commercial teams to support profitable growth and customer pricing execution.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Pricing & Cost Estimating- Support all Cleveland new business quotes and Requests for Quotes (RFQs) accurately and in a timely manner.
- Partner with Commercial, Procurement, Engineering, Operations, Project Management, and Technical Services to develop pricing assumptions and complete quote packages.
- Prepare and maintain detailed cost estimates, including labor, overhead, packaging, BOM, formulation, and manufacturing assumptions.
- Support customer pricing decisions, contract renewals, and pricing updates aligned with Master Supply Agreements (MSAs).
- Analyze pricing requests and compare assumptions to historical quotes, margins, and operational performance.
- Participate in pricing reviews for manufacturing deliverables, project-related charges, validation activities, and one-time customer requests
- Prepare customer, product, and program-level gross margin analysis.
Material Cost Recovery & Margin Protection- Support material cost recovery initiatives and customer repricing efforts resulting from supplier inflation or operational cost changes.
- Partner with Purchasing and Supply Chain to quantify supplier increases and evaluate margin impact.
- Assist with customer repricing documentation and analysis required under contractual MSA provisions.
- Monitor manufacturing cost trends and identify risks impacting quote profitability and margin performance
Inventory, Cost Accounting & Master Data- Review and maintain item records, bills of materials (BOMs), routings, and related manufacturing cost inputs.
- Support standard cost updates, cost roll-ups, and pricing revisions when cost assumptions change.
- Assist with manufacturing variance analysis, including production variances, purchase price variances, and inventory adjustments.
- Support inventory accounting activities, physical inventory processes, reconciliations, and related reporting.
- Ensure integrity and accuracy of cost-related data within ERP systems and reporting tools.
Financial Analysis & Reporting- Develop and maintain financial models supporting pricing decisions, profitability analysis, and operational planning.
- Support Cleveland site profitability reporting and forecast assumptions.
- Prepare variance analysis and identify key operational and financial cost drivers.
- Assist with month-end close activities, reconciliations, journal entries, and management reporting.
- Support audit requests and financial reporting requirements as needed.
Process Improvement & Cross-Functional Support- Maintain pricing templates, workflows, quote logs, and related documentation.
- Support development of standardized pricing governance, reporting tools, dashboards, and approval processes.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives focused on pricing accuracy, quote turnaround, process discipline, and margin visibility.
- Support NetSuite pricing and costing workflows and related reporting enhancements.
- Participate in special projects, strategic initiatives, and cross-functional operational analyses as needed.
QUALIFICATION: - Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Engineering, Supply Chain, Business, or related field required.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in pricing, cost accounting, manufacturing finance, or cost estimating within a manufacturing environment.
- CDMO, pharmaceutical, life sciences, medical device, or regulated manufacturing experience strongly preferred.
- Strong understanding of cost accounting principles, manufacturing operations, inventory accounting, and pricing analysis.
- Experience supporting manufacturing quotes, RFQs, customer pricing, or operational costing activities preferred.
- ERP system experience required; Oracle NetSuite experience strongly preferred.
- Experience in a private-equity-backed or high-growth manufacturing environment is highly desirable.
TECHNICAL SKILLS:- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including Pivot Tables, XLOOKUP/VLOOKUP, data modeling, and financial analysis tools.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Teams, and related reporting tools.
- Experience with ERP systems, pricing systems, and manufacturing reporting environments.
- Ability to build and maintain complex financial and operational cost models.
