President & Chief Medical Officer

Physician Led Professional Corporation

Position Summary

The President & Chief Medical Officer of a newly established physician-led Professional Corporation (PC) serves as the senior physician executive responsible for the overall clinical, professional, operational, and organizational performance of the organization.

This role provides leadership and oversight for all physician employees and ensures the delivery of accurate, high-quality, and timely diagnostic services across all clinical disciplines, including molecular pathology, hematopathology, surgical pathology, and biopharma medical services.

The President is accountable for physician workforce planning, provider engagement, clinical quality, professional standards, and organizational effectiveness. A key component of the role is fostering strong alignment between the PC and NeoGenomics, ensuring coordinated execution of clinical operations, strategic priorities, and service delivery.

Role Purpose

The President will serve as the physician executive responsible for establishing and leading the Professional Corporation's pathology organization. This individual will ensure clinical excellence, regulatory compliance, physician engagement, and effective operational collaboration with NeoGenomics.

This role will also contribute to the development and evolution of the physician practice model, supporting scalability and alignment with regulatory requirements in Corporate Practice of Medicine (CPOM)-sensitive environments.

Key Responsibilities

Physician Enterprise Leadership
  • Serve as the senior physician executive and leader of the PC
  • Establish and communicate strategic priorities for the physician organization
  • Promote a culture of clinical excellence, accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement
  • Advocate for physician resources and operational needs in enterprise decision-making

Clinical Workforce Management
  • Ensure appropriate staffing across all clinical service lines and locations
  • Develop workforce plans aligned with operational demands and growth initiatives
  • Oversee physician recruitment, onboarding, performance management, and retention
  • Monitor productivity, workload distribution, and coverage models
  • Ensure continuity of clinical services across disciplines and sites

Clinical Quality & Service Excellence
  • Ensure the delivery of accurate, high-quality diagnostic interpretation
  • Maintain clear, concise, and clinically actionable reporting standards
  • Oversee turnaround time performance and service-level commitments
  • Establish and maintain clinical quality systems, patient safety programs, and physician accountability
  • Support peer review, competency assessment, and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Ensure compliance with all professional, regulatory, accreditation, and ethical standards
  • Address clinical performance and professional practice concerns as needed

Professional Corporation Management
  • Lead the strategic, operational, and organizational management of the PC
  • Support governance activities and engagement with the governing board
  • Develop policies and procedures related to physician practice and responsibilities
  • Build a high-performing physician organization through talent development and engagement initiatives
  • Participate in compensation planning, workforce budgeting, and resource allocation
  • Ensure compliance with all management and professional services agreements
  • Maintain adherence to California CPOM requirements and applicable regulations

Enterprise Partnership & Strategic Alignment
  • Serve as the primary physician liaison between the PC and NeoGenomics
  • Partner closely with the NeoGenomics Medical leader and broader executive leadership team
  • Align physician resources with enterprise priorities and operational needs
  • Foster collaboration across clinical, operational, commercial, and administrative teams
  • Ensure physician leadership contributes to enterprise success while preserving independent medical judgment

Required Qualifications

Education
  • MD or DO degree

Experience

Required:
  • Minimum of 10 years of clinical experience in diagnostic pathology
  • Minimum of 5 years of physician leadership experience, including workforce planning and performance management
  • Experience collaborating with executive leadership in complex healthcare organizations


Preferred:
  • Experience leading large, geographically distributed physician organizations
  • Experience managing a professional corporation in a CPOM-regulated state
  • Experience leading multidisciplinary pathology teams
  • Experience supporting growth, integration, or transformation initiatives
  • Experience reporting to a board of directors

Pay Range (will vary based on location & experience) $450,000 - $550,000

In all instances, the salary paid will satisfy minimum salary laws.
