Preconstruction Opportunity: Preconstruction Project Manager

We are currently looking for a Preconstruction Project Manager to join our Preconstruction team located at our headquarters in Granite City, IL. Our ideal candidate for a Preconstruction Project Manageris someone with 5 + years of experience who is personable, has high energy, and brings a strong sense of commitment to our projects. This role will oversee the preconstruction phase of mechanical and plumbing projects, ensuring seamless transition from project award through engineering, buyout, and preparation of field installation documentation.

Primary responsibilities for icon's Preconstruction Project Manager include:

  • Leading project kickoff activities post-award.
  • Collaborating with estimating to understand the scope and budget of a project.
  • Developing and managing the baseline preconstruction cost forecast.
  • Defining and maintaining team responsibilities and decision matrices to clarify roles among the project teams.
  • Defining and coordinating the preconstruction deliverables package, including: Schedule, design documents, submittals, BIM models, installation drawings, hanger maps, material schedules, and Trimble points.
  • Building and maintaining a preconstruction schedule aligned with construction timelines.
  • Aligning with the Construction Project Managers to coordinate field and fabrication timelines.
  • Creating and managing material spec matrices to ensure alignment between the project requirements and the BIM model.
  • Submitting and tracking RFIs to resolve spec and drawing gaps with the design teams and General Contractors.
  • Reviewing specs & contracts for cost saving opportunities.
  • Coordinating with the submittal team to prioritize early buyouts and BIM needs.
  • Supporting equipment buyout and selections.
  • Exploring offsite fabrication and modularization options.
  • Developing Subcontractor scopes and managing them during the preconstruction phase of the project.
  • Tracking and documenting scope changes to assess and log cost/schedule impacts and coordinating change orders with field teams and the General Contractor.
  • Participating in BIM coordination meetings and resolving model clashes efficiently.
  • Maintaining a value engineering log and proposing spec changes to improve efficiency.

Primary qualifications for icon's Preconstruction Project Manager include:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a Mechanical Project Manager role or a related field.
  • Strong understanding of construction terminology, processes, and industry best practices.
  • Hands-on experience with REVIT, AutoCAD, and Navisworks is highly preferred.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Teams, Outlook, Excel, Word, and Planner.
  • Self-driven with excellent time management and organizational skills.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrates a strong sense of ownership and commitment to long-term goals.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:
