Full Job Description
QTEC Aerospace is seeking a SYSTEMS ENGINEER to join our team of professionals in Huntsville, AL. The qualified applicant will become part of a team of professionals representing both industry and government. The successful candidate will be detail oriented, have a proven track record and a positive work ethic.

Job Summary

QTEC Aerospace is looking for highly capable and motivated individuals. The successful candidates will function as an integral member of a multi-contractor team providing program, engineering, and technical support to Missile Defense programs. The chosen candidate will function as both Product Owner (PO) and contributor on the Systems Engineering Team for the Ground Fire Control (GFC) product.

Job Duties/Responsibilities

Responsibilities will include, but may not be limited to the following:
  • Developing and assisting in the requirements process that directly supports the design and development of GWS capabilities on behalf of the Missile Defense Agency (MDA)
  • Responsible for the team's roadmap, the vision of the team's products, the estimation of work required to complete capabilities, the planning of the work for the team, producing the metrics that show the team's progress and briefing those metrics to program leadership
  • The PO responsibilities will be ~25% of the role, with the remaining ~75% of workload providing technical contributions for the Systems Engineering team for the product


Minimum Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline and 8 years of related experience; Master's Degree in STEM and 6 years of related experience; PhD in STEM with 4 years of experience


Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Must be able to support an in-person / closed-area work environment
  • Must have a solid understanding of system engineering processes and principles, along with proven experience in applying them to develop product solutions
  • Must have experience with SW development and the verification of requirements
  • Must have experience with DOORS, Cameo, and MBSE
  • Previous experience working on a large-scale missile defense system like GMD
  • Applicants must demonstrate ability to think critically and capture concepts in work products, presentations, and discussions
  • Previous experience as a PO or leading a technical team of 5 or more individuals
  • Experience estimating, planning, and scheduling software development work for a technical team
  • Ability and willingness to travel up to 10% of the time to support business needs
  • Should thrive in a fast-paced work environment with high expectations, significantly diverse assignments, and collaborative/teams comprised of all experience levels
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams, ability to communicate technical information clearly to both technical and non-technical personnel, and prepare and brief presentations to the customer as needed
  • Self-motivated and customer-oriented


Desired Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Advanced degree in Mathematics or Physics
  • Battle Management or Fire Control experience
  • MBSE or INCOSE Certifications
  • Product Owner / Agile Certifications
  • Experience developing System Engineer artifacts, including specifications, Interface Control Documents, Use Cases, System Architecture Descriptions, Trade Studies, and similar documents


Security Clearance

Candidates must currently have and be able to maintain a minimum DoD SECRET level security clearance.
