Job Description

The Powertrain Delivery Excellence & Transformation Supervisor is a pivotal leadership role designed for an individual ready to shape the future operating model of global automotive program execution. Based in Dearborn, Michigan, this role has a global footprint, ensuring that our end-to-end program delivery processes-spanning from early program concept to production -are standardized, predictable, and highly efficient.

Part of the Global Manufacturing Engineering organization and reporting directly to the Powertrain Programs Delivery Chief, you will lead a dedicated team of direct reports to guide the organization through three critical phases: System Implementation, Stabilization & Continuous Improvement, and a Dramatic Leap Forward in business efficiency.

Success in this role depends on building highly collaborative partnerships across Global Manufacturing Engineering peer areas, Global FPS (Ford Production System), Product Development, and downstream Powertrain Manufacturing Plants. You will own the execution of the "5 Must-Do Elements to Ensure Culture Change" (Process & Metrics, Organization & Infrastructure, Communication Plan, People Practices & Training, and Leadership & Symbolic Actions) within the program delivery space.

Key objectives include establishing physical and digital Program Obeya/Business Control Centers (PT Delivery BCC, ProgramCC, DCC, ZCC), deploying updated program metrics, leveraging modern AI and digital productivity tools to streamline workflows, and upskilling the global workforce through a Dedicated Competency Assessment and Skills Development plan.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities
  • People Leadership: Direct, mentor, and develop a team of 5-6 operational excellence and program management professionals, fostering a collaborative, continuous-learning environment.
  • Drive Strategic Action Plans (SAP): Support the development, alignment, and execution of the strategic and tactical actions (SAP) required to transform and standardize Powertrain Program Delivery in alignment with GME standards.
  • Ensure Early-Stage GPDS-FPS Integration & Launch Maturity: Integrate FPS (Ford Production System) principles into early-stage GPDS (Global Product Development System) milestones to guarantee a flawless manufacturing implementation. Focus on driving and measuring LMM (Lean Maturity Model) readiness at the plants prior to and during Job 1.
  • Standardize Simultaneous Engineering Practices: Establish and govern standard practices that integrate manufacturing engineering constraints early into the product concept phase, minimizing late-stage engineering changes and ensuring seamless launch execution at the plants.
  • Standardize Program Obeya & Visual Management: Design, deploy, and govern the physical and digital infrastructure for visual management control centers (PT Delivery BCC, ProgramCC, DCC, and ZCC). Implement robust Daily Management and LPR (Layered Process Review) to ensure standard, highly visual milestone tracking.
  • Process & Tool Modernization: Champion the integration of mainstream software applications and modern AI productivity tools to streamline Business Control Center tracking, automate data-driven reporting, and drive "connected flow" across global program milestones.
  • Optimize GPDS Gateways & Metrics: Define and update Program Bowlers (KPI Performance Dashboards) to measure program execution health, standardized GPDS gate reviews, and skill team operational alignment.
  • Lead Capability & Training Programs: Develop and execute the training strategy, incorporating a Dedicated Competency Assessment and Skills Development plan
  • Facilitate Leadership & Symbolic Actions: Organize and drive cultural change mechanisms such as Program Kaizens, Gemba walks, and LPR (Layered Process Review) cadences to shift leadership focus from firefighting to proactive barrier removal.
  • Execute the Communication Plan: Cascade the transformation strategy through Quarterly All Hands, Leaders Workshops, Skip-level meetings, and 1:1 structures to ensure regional and global organizational alignment.
  • Foster Ford OS Behaviors: Model and cultivate Ford OS Behaviors and Servant Leadership across Powertrain Delivery, coaching leaders to shift from traditional program management to supportive mentoring.
