Job Summary:

As a Power Systems Engineering (PSE) Manager, you will lead a talented team of engineers in designing modernization upgrades and retrofits for advanced automated switchgear systems. You'll collaborate closely with the AES Engineering Manager and PSE Team Leads to ensure technical excellence and project alignment. Your role bridges engineering and project management, driving coordination around schedules, challenges, and deliverables. You'll also work with the AES Scheduling Engineer to synchronize engineering and production timelines for seamless execution.

What You Will Do:
  • Manage staffing, development, and performance of a PSE engineering team.
  • Support PSE engineering team with project execution (design review, schematic review, component testing, verifying and adjusting automation programming).
  • Monitor PSE engineering team projects (quality, costing, profitability, and timeliness).
  • Provide specialized engineering technical support and consulting services to various areas of the organization.
  • Manage high-impact, short and long duration engineering initiatives; ensuring quality of automation products and projects.
  • Design, modify, develop, write and implement software-programming for generator control switchgear automation applications.
  • Configure, program and test automation hardware.

  • Relationship Management: Extensive experience and knowledge of relationship management techniques; ability to establish and maintain healthy working relationships with clients, vendors, and peers.
    • Communicates to clients regarding expectations of all parties.
    • Participates in negotiating the terms of the business relationship.
    • Conducts periodic reviews of work effort, progress, issues, and successes.


Additional Requirements:
  • PLC Software Expertise including Modicon/Schneider Electric, Rockwell/Allen Bradley, and Codesys platforms.
  • HMI Software Proficiency with tools such as Factory Talk, RSView, Vijeo, Crimson, Kepware, Applicom, and EcoStruxure Machine SCADA Expert.
  • Microsoft Office Skills, particularly in Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or Materials Science from an accredited institution, along with 3-5 years of relevant experience; equivalent experience may also be considered.
  • Valid driver's license and a clean driving record.


Additional Information:
  • Travel required: 10 - 20% (estimated), to support jobsite technical escalation and safety audits
  • Domestic relocation assistance is available

Summary Pay Range:

$147,760.00 - $221,640.00

Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
