Background

NYSERDA sponsored development of a statewide Integrated Energy Data Resource (IEDR), a secure, centralized energy data platform designed to collect, integrate, and provide authorized access to utility customer and energy system data. The platform enables distributed energy resource (DER) providers, energy service companies, government agencies, researchers, and other stakeholders to access standardized energy data for analytics, planning, and innovation. The initiative includes collaboration across multiple utilities and industry partners in NY state to standardize foundational data sets across key workstreams (Rates, Network, and Customer), supporting long-term data governance, interoperability, and future energy use cases.

What You Will Do:
  • Synthesize and translate IEDR-related NYSERDA requirements for internal stakeholder consumption
  • For each IEDR data set approved during the engagement period:
    o Confirm data availability.
    o Create data process flow.
    o Document business requirements.
    o Document success criteria.
  • Work with client data owners to collect and deliver IEDR use case relevant sample data files to NYSERDA
  • Identify the data source, data owner, and how the data is processed / transformed currently
  • Work with Guidehouse team members on client's data solution team as well as client's Network Engineers to document technical requirements


Data Analysis
  • Map data from source to target including data transformations
  • Analyze data and document gaps, quality issues
  • Support data modeling activities


What You Will Need:
  • Must be a US Citizen, due to nature of client engagements; No sponsorship available
  • Bachelor's degree in business, economics, or a STEM discipline AND Five (5+) plus years relevant post-graduation utilities work experience; Or Master's degree in business, economics, or a STEM discipline AND Three (3+) plus year relevant post-graduation utilities work experience
  • Good engineering knowledge of how power companies manage their grid and how they analyze their capacity needs
  • Ability to build the bridge between the business, engineering, and IT
  • Understanding the electric grid AND:
    • Connectivity between grid assets (substations, transformers, feeders, etc.)
    • Data and parameters associated with grid assets (such as capacity, thermal ratings, load, etc.)
    • Understanding of utility hosting capacity maps and load capacity analysis
    • Familiarity with agile development cycle and source to target mapping
  • Strong attention to detail, ability to create PPT slides that turn complex or high volumes of information into a narrative story for audience of all levels (from leadership to staff engineers)
  • Ability to comfortably work in and present Excel files
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently with minimal direction and drive flow of work
  • Currently reside in the contiguous United States
  • Ability to travel


What Would Be Nice To Have:
  • Master's Degree in business, economics, or a STEM discipline
  • Experience with DER interconnection queues or general familiarity with DERS


The annual salary range for this position is $122,000.00-$204,000.00. Compensation decisions depend on a wide range of factors, including but not limited to skill sets, experience and training, security clearances, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs.
