Posting Summary Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a Postdoctoral Associate within the Medical Oncology, Guo Laboratory at the Rutgers Cancer Institute.
The primary role of the Postdoctoral Associate is to conduct research aimed at identifying metabolic vulnerabilities in KRAS-driven lung tumorigenesis, with the goal of informing potential therapeutic strategies for KRAS-mutant lung cancer under the supervision of the Principal Investigator. The Postdoctoral Associate performs specialized research experiments and laboratory techniques under the direction of the Principal Investigator and contributes to the preparation of written reports for manuscripts and grant proposals.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:
- Conducts research experiments to: (i) identify novel metabolic vulnerabilities in KRAS-mutant lung cancer using in vivo and in vitro screening approaches; (ii) validate identified targets in vivo and elucidate the underlying mechanisms; and (iii) assess their impact on standard therapies for KRAS-driven lung cancer.
- Prepares written reports of the research experiments.
- Prepares grant proposals based on the research conducted.
- Prepares data for presentations and publications. Presents research results at laboratory and scientific meetings at the local and national level.
- Assists with the instructing and training of students, fellows, lower-level professionals and technicians in laboratory technicians, instrumentation, etc. to develop the skills necessary to perform the required research functions.
- Assists with eIACUC and IBC protocol renewals and amendments.

Qualifications
Minimum Education and Experience - Ph.D. and/or M.D. in a relevant scientific discipline is required. Consideration to interview will also be given to applicants who are in the process of completing their Ph.D. or M.D. degree. Documentation of Ph.D. or M.D. degree completion must be provided prior to commencement of employment.
Certifications/LicensesRequired Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities - Experience in metabolomics and flow cytometry (FACS) analyses, or the ability to rapidly acquire these skills, is expected.
- Effective oral and written communication skills.
- Must be computer literate with proficiency and working knowledge of database and reporting tools such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint.
Preferred Qualifications - A background in tumor metabolism and tumor immunology is preferred.
- Experience with mouse colony management and in vivo mouse experiments is highly desirable.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- Laboratory environment. Moderate noise.
- Exposure to blood, excrement, antineoplastic drugs and possible exposure to infectious and communicable diseases. Universal precautions are mandatory.
- Exposure to hazardous chemicals.
