PORTFOLIO MANAGER ASSOCIATE - FIPrimarily responsible for executing buy and sell orders for municipal and/or corporate bonds in both secondary and primary markets for duration targeted fixed income strategies. May participate in active strategy portfolio management at the discretion of PM's or Sr. PMs on the fixed income team. Manage and report volume, flow and other relevant trading and market statistics. Liaison with PM teams to ensure open communication and education on various aspects of portfolio construction, sales and market conditions.
WHAT WILL YOU DO?
- Determine and implement appropriate trades that are consistent with client and strategy objectives for both new and existing accounts
- Use Python, R or similar tools to perform data analysis, write basic scripts, and help translate investment and trading requirements into practical solutions.
- Review orders to ensure accuracy, proper record keeping, and conformance to regulations
- Evaluate market volatility and ensures clients receive the best rate available
- Perform any necessary follow up activities to ensure proper final processing of trades
- Monitor technical trading trends and report to broader fixed income team
- Interface with research and investment teams to ensure City National Rochdale's strategy is accurately reflected in portfolios
- Communicate strategic and market shifts to internal colleagues
- Review the assets in the passive strategies on a regular basis to ensure that investments continue to meet the intent and strategies of the client
- Manage cash flow, coupon and maturity reinvestment and liquidity requirements
- Communicate to internal colleagues, especially PM teams, about current market conditions and trading strategies
- Maintain all appropriate compliance, training and continuing education requirements for both internal programs and external licenses and certifications
- Actively participate in team and firm efforts to find process efficiencies via enhanced technology and "digital mastery"
WHAT DO YOU NEED TO SUCCEED?
Required Qualifications*- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent
- Minimum 3 years' experience in the fixed income markets
Additional Qualifications- Strong technology background and agility
- Demonstrated self-motivation and emotional intelligence
- Ability to communicate and collaborate effectively across quantitative and portfolio management functions, supporting coordination across different areas of expertise
- High level of curiosity, sense of ownership, accountability and ethical standards
- Knowledge of Bloomberg and other financial market platforms (e.g. MarketAxess)
- Excellent analytical skills, understanding of the economy and market conditions
- Experience with securities trading, dealer relationships and trading platforms
- Strong communication skills and ability to work in a team environment
- Ability to effectively articulate investment philosophy to internal constituents
- Ability to plan, organize and prioritize
