About the Role

Major responsibilities and duties require consistent attention and commitment to the agency's mission and are to be performed in an effective, efficient and safe manner.

KPD also has numerous collateral duty and specialty assignments, such as K9, detectives, motors, SWAT, computer forensics, firearms, and survival skills instructors.

Pay & Benefits

• Hourly Rate: $34.59/hour to $45.70 per hour, plus incentives as applicable
• Immediate incentives: 6% (plus 7.5% until Public Employee Retirement System eligibility) employer contributions to a deferred compensation 457(b) retirement account and 2% employer contributions to a retirement health savings program.

• Special Assignments: 5% pay incentive for K9, SWAT, & Motors

Testing Information

• Entry level applicants must successfully pass the NTN law enforcement Frontline National Test and submit valid test results through NTN's website by selecting Keizer Police Department (KPD). You will certify your passing score and upload evidence during the application process. The link for NTN can be found here.
• Applicants and current Keizer reserve officers who can provide proof of a four-year degree (or higher) are not required to submit test results for the NTN law enforcement Frontline National Test.
• Candidates must pass the Oregon Physical Agility Test (ORPAT) at the DPSST Academy to become a certified Police Officer. Passing scores are not required for your City of Keizer application, but you must pass the ORPAT to become a certified Police Officer. According to State & Federal Law - You cannot be a police officer in Oregon if:

• You cannot obtain a valid driver license in your state of residence.
• You will not be a U.S. citizen within 18 months of being hired.
  • NOTE: Citizenship application requires 5 years of residency.
• You have been convicted of a Domestic Violence Assault.
• You have been convicted of a felony.

• Take the NTN Law Enforcement Frontline National Test and submit results to KPD with passing scores in reading and writing of 75% or higher, and 65% in the video portion.

• Personal History Questionnaire: Qualified candidates will answer a thorough Personal History Questionnaire.
• Interview Invitations: Candidates selected to move forward will be contacted by email to schedule an interview. Depending on the recruitment, this may include one or more interview rounds.

• Background Investigation: You will undergo a comprehensive background investigation. A background investigator will review your Personal History Questionnaire and may contact current and former employers, personal and professional references, including family members. Your employment history, financial and credit history, driving, criminal history, and other areas will be investigated and thoroughly reviewed.
• Final Selection & Conditional Offer: Finalist(s) will receive a conditional job offer pending successful completion of required background checks and pre-employment steps.
