Job Description:
  • We have an immediate need for a Platform Engineer to support TO-005, Report Authoring and Dissemination (RAD), and lead the deployment of the RAD production system across three network environments.
  • This is a hybrid role for a versatile, jack-of-all-trades engineer who is equally comfortable deploying and operating containerized systems via Kubernetes and diving into application code to modify system components.
  • The ideal candidate thrives on ownership, working across the full stack and the full deployment lifecycle to stand up new production environments.
Responsibilities:
  • Multi-Network Deployment: Deploy the RAD system to three different network environments via Kubernetes, adapting configurations to the constraints of each network.
  • Deployment Process Engineering: Design, establish, and document a repeatable deployment process and pipeline for delivering the system and its updates across all target networks.
  • Application Modification: Modify and troubleshoot system components built with Java Spring (back-end) and Vue.js (front-end) as needed to support deployment, configuration, and environment-specific requirements.
  • Environment Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve issues spanning infrastructure, middleware, and application layers during environment standup and stabilization.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with the existing DevOps team, software developers, and system engineers to align deployment practices with the broader RAD architecture and operational standards.

Required Experience:
  • Hands-on experience deploying and managing containerized applications with Kubernetes
  • Experience developing or modifying applications built with Java / Spring (Spring Boot)
  • Experience developing or modifying front-end applications built with Vue.js (or strong experience with a comparable framework such as React or Angular)
  • Thorough understanding of Docker and container technology
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines and deployments of distributed web applications (e.g., GitLab CI/CD)
  • Linux administration experience
  • Experience with Git
Desired Experience:
    • Experience deploying applications across multiple isolated or classified network environments
    • AWS experience, including cloud-native architecture and deployment
    • Terraform scripting and VM provisioning
    • Ansible scripting and development
    • Python scripting and development
    • Familiarity with Elasticsearch, NiFi, or MongoDB
    • Familiarity with domain knowledge surrounding government agency reporting and dissemination policies
