Full Job Description
Independence Corrugated, an affiliate of Schwarz Partners and corrugated manufacturing industry leader currently has an exciting opportunity available for a Plant Superintendent in Oak Creek, Wisconsin. As the Plant Superintendent, you will manage and coordinate the safe production of quality products in a clean environment by directing, scheduling, organizing and monitoring staff and workflow.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS FOR THIS POSITION:
  • Maintain necessary staff levels by orienting, and training and providing resources for employees.
  • Manage, coordinate and achieve manufacturing results and improvement by setting and communicating job expectations; planning, monitoring, and appraising job results; identifying and implementing employee growth opportunities; coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees; investigating and resolving personnel problems; initiating, coordinating, and enforcing employee systems, policies, and procedures.
  • Direct and maintain work flow by monitoring steps of the production process; setting processing variables; observing control points and equipment; monitoring personnel and resources; studying methods; implementing cost reductions; developing reporting procedures and systems; facilitating corrections to malfunctions within process control points; initiating and fostering a spirit of cooperation within and between departments.
  • Training employees; planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; conflict resolution; team building; coaching and leading employees to improve; addressing complaints and resolving problems; documentation; and setting an example of superior behavior, attitude and performance.
  • Managing processes; making process improvements; tracking budget expenses; production planning; designing controls and instrumentation; strategic planning; complex decision-making; financial planning and strategies.
  • Complete production plans by scheduling and assigning personnel; accomplishing work results; establishing priorities; monitoring progress; revising schedules; resolving problems; reporting results of the processing flow on shift production summaries.
  • Maintain and contribute to quality products and customer service by establishing and enforcing organization standards.
  • Ensure proper and efficient operation of equipment by calling for repairs, evaluating new equipment, and analyzing techniques.
  • Provide manufacturing information by compiling, initiating, sorting, and analyzing production performance records and data; answering questions and responding to requests.
  • Create and revise systems and procedures by analyzing operating practices, record-keeping systems, forms of control, and budgetary and personnel requirements, recommending and implementing changes.
  • Create and maintain a safe and clean work environment.
  • Regular and predictable attendance.
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; benchmarking state-of-the-art practices.
  • Maintains positive working relationships with employees and peers.
  • Comply with company policies and procedures and all applicable laws and regulations.
  • Attend and participate in corporate safety training seminars and conference calls.
  • Proactively identify and mitigate any safety concerns within the plant.
  • Additional duties as assigned.


REQUIRED EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE:
  • At least 3 to 5 years of Production Management manufacturing/industrial experience.
  • High School diploma or GED.


PREFERRED EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE:
  • Corrugated Manufacturing/mechanical experience.
  • Bachelor's degree.


REQUIRED SKILLS & ABILITIES:
  • General mechanical skills/abilities - Troubleshooting, ability to understand the technical aspects of several complex machines.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills - Must be able to accurately communicate with superiors, peers, and employees, as well as customers, vendors, and contractors.
