Full Job Description
The Plant Superintendent oversees the personnel and processes responsible for manufacturing, quality assurance, and the timely delivery of products. This role directs and coordinates daily plant and shift operations to achieve production, quality, budget, and delivery objectives. The Plant Superintendent develops and implements annual operational plans and performance goals that align with both customer expectations and organizational requirements.

Additionally, the Plant Superintendent ensures compliance with all applicable certifications, industry standards, and customer specifications. The role is accountable for maintaining a safe work environment, ensuring environmental compliance, and driving continuous improvement efforts. Responsibilities also include overseeing equipment maintenance and repairs, supporting employee training and cross-training, and promoting practices to enhance operational efficiency and workplace organization. The ideal candidate effectively mentors and motivates team members while delegating responsibilities and empowering others to develop their skills, take ownership of their work, and achieve success both individually and as part of the team.

Essential duties and responsibilities:

o Leads performance of the Business by planning, coordinating, and managing all production departments.

o Adhere and support corporate values, customers, productivity through people, profit, innovation, team relationships and culture.

o Provide leadership and support for the promotion of products manufactured, services performed, support development of new markets, increased share of current markets, and maintain competitive position in industry.

o Provides support and leadership to the team and establishes key performance indicators to meet business goals.

o Model a level of excellence for associates in the organization for servicing all customers both internal and external.

o Establish quality and efficiency of production processes to meet performance objectives.

o Promote positive leadership to enforce safety and environmental compliance.

o Lead the development and implementation of improved operating methods, systems, and procedures to reduce costs and to improve quality performance.

o Develop effective lines of communication and cooperation between departments and functions within areas of responsibility.

o Performs other job-related duties as required or assigned.

The Plant Superintendent will conduct supervisory and managerial responsibilities in accordance with Ohio Grating's organizational policies, applicable federal, state, and local laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance: rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints, resolving problems, and career development. This role will provide the vision and support to develop talent depth in the organization. The Superintendent will demonstrate strong team-building abilities by fostering collaboration, trust, and a positive work environment.

Education and/or Experience:

o BS Operations Management, Engineering and/or Business Administration

o Three-five plus years of management experience and/or 10 years' experience in manufacturing industry preferred.

o Understand and interpret part print/process specifications, GD&T, CNC programs, models, or customer requirements to determine materials/machines/processes required to manufacture parts.

o Demonstrate and train team members in the proper use of precision measuring equipment and gages to assure product quality.

o Trouble shoot and analyze production and/or equipment issues and implement corrective actions.

o Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office applications to include databases, MRP/ERP system and developing labor standards for cost structure preferred.

o Must have an elevated level of energy, be purposeful, confident and have strong people skills. Must be able to establish and maintain a strong rapport and positive relationships with all levels of staff.

o The ideal applicant will be strategic in his/her orientation, initiative-taking, persistent, and able to manage multiple projects and customers simultaneously.
