Full Job Description
Looking to launch your engineering career in a role where you can make a real impact from day one? Cabot has an exciting opportunity for an early career Plant Reliability Engineer to join our team. This is an excellent first or second career position for a motivated engineer who is eager to build hands-on experience in manufacturing, reliability, process improvement, and project management while working alongside experienced mentors and cross-functional teams.

In this role, you will provide technical support and help drive continuous improvements across production, packaging, and warehouse operations. You'll gain exposure to equipment reliability, process safety management, capital projects, and manufacturing optimization while developing the technical and leadership skills needed for long-term career growth.

You will help improve capability, capacity, and productivity at the site to ensure safe and optimal process utilization. You'll also support and implement capital and expense projects within scope, cost, time, and safety standards while identifying opportunities to improve equipment reliability and operational performance.

How You Will Make an Impact:
• Identify, recommend, and implement improvements in plant performance to optimize product rates, yields, and quality in alignment with business needs and SH&E requirements.
• Provide technical support to troubleshoot and resolve operational issues, leveraging and growing your knowledge of root cause failure analysis, and process improvement techniques while partnering with experienced colleagues across multiple departments.
• Support the site mechanical integrity program by investigating equipment issues and helping eliminate recurring failures to improve plant reliability and performance. Review maintenance work plans and contribute to preventative maintenance strategies and Asset Care Plans that maximize safety and minimize downtime.
• Assist in the design, procurement, and installation of new equipment. Recommend, develop, and coordinate capital improvements. Support new product and process development initiatives and help create manufacturing Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for equipment and process operations.
• Conduct end-of-life equipment assessments and recommend repairs or replacements. Identify opportunities to improve equipment monitoring capabilities and reliability systems.
• Serve as Process Safety Management (PSM) custodian for manufacturing in coordination with site and regional PSM representatives. Participate in Process Hazard Analyses (PHA), Management of Change (MOC) activities, and manufacturing risk assessments. This role offers valuable exposure to industry-leading safety and compliance practices that will strengthen your engineering foundation.
• Monitor maintenance and capital projects and work with contractors in accordance with all site regulations and safety standards.
• Support implementation and maintenance of the Responsible Care® Management System in line with RC14001® technical specifications.

What You Will Bring to Cabot:
• A strong desire to learn, grow, and build a successful engineering career in a manufacturing environment.
• Knowledge of chemical manufacturing process technologies, engineering principles, mechanical and instrumentation systems, calibration and maintenance, and local and distributed control systems.
• Knowledge of Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA) methodologies and reliability analysis tools.
• Familiarity with safety practices such as confined space entry, lockout-tag-out, and hot-work permitting.
• Statistical analysis and equipment diagnostic skills.
• Project management skills including scheduling, safety oversight, and contractor coordination.
• Bachelor's degree in a relevant Engineering discipline.
• 0 - 2 years of experience in a manufacturing environment. Internship, co-op, or early career manufacturing experience will also be valued for candidates eager to grow into the role.

How We'll Support Your Success:
Pay and Benefits - The salary range for this role is from $86,500 to $119,000. Actual compensation will depend on skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
