Overview

Position Overview

The Mesquite Plant Quality Manager plays a vital role ensuring that the Benjamin Moore Quality Standards are fully implemented and that premium paint products are consistently manufactured according to established processes and finished product specifications. The successful candidate will have demonstrated leadership in the management of a plant quality system and quality control laboratory.

Responsibilities

Quality Control Department Management Responsibilities

 

  • Drives Continual Quality Improvement in the plant by managing formula processing optimization, and by overseeing the new formula batch commercialization and scale-up process.
  • Oversees the management of the plant quality control laboratory ensuring full compliance with corporate Quality Standards and SOPs, sampling protocols and test methods
  • Ensures lab technicians and operators are effectively trained in corporate quality practices and test methods, providing a quality training plan for the plant.
  • Monitors the plant Quality System by developing and executing a plant audit program to ensure SOP compliance and the implementation of corrective actions when necessary.
  • Leads root cause investigations (RCA) for nonconforming batches focusing on the identification and implementation of effective countermeasures.
  • Ensures that thorough customer complaint investigations are completed in a timely manner.

Team Engagement

  • Drives quality personnel and operator empowerment in quality control practices while providing opportunities for career development.

KPI tracking and quality data trend analysis for improved batch % Right The First Time (RTFT)

  • Leads plant quality improvement initiatives for reduction in batch adjustments (first run capability), product action elimination, and rework scrap reduction.
  • Performs trend analysis on statistical process control (SPC) data to improve right the first time batch capability.

Batch scale-up support

  • Liaises with Product Development and Corporate Quality to scale-up new and modified formulas.
Qualifications

Required Skills And Experience

  • Bachelor of Science Degree.
  • 5+ years of experience in quality lab supervision in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong interpersonal communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Extensive knowledge of statistics, data collection and analysis, and the ability to examine data and draw accurate meaningful conclusions that can be turned into preventive or corrective actions.
  • Extensive experience in plant batch processing and filling operations
  • ASQ certification as a Quality Engineer (CQE) or Quality Manager (CQM) or Six Sigma Black Belt certification a plus.
Pay Range USD $115,700.00 - USD $148,100.00 /Yr.
