Job Title: Plant Manager

Location: Spruce Grove, Alberta

Onsite Position

Position Description: The Plant Manager will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the Alberta locations. The position will develop processes that will maximize safety, quality and productivity. The incumbent is responsible for driving continuous improvement and optimizing all processes to ensure effective execution and striving for operational excellence as well as coaching a performance-based culture that aligns with the needs of our customers.

Responsibilities / Duties:
  • Plan, organize, direct and run optimum day-to-day operations to exceed our internal and external customers' expectations.
  • Report on key performance indicators for production on a weekly basis.
  • Increase production, assets capacity and flexibility while minimizing unnecessary costs and maintaining current quality standards.
  • Allocate resources effectively and fully utilize manufacturing assets.
  • Cascade strategic initiatives and provide a clear sense of direction that drive results.
  • Work with Human Resources on processes to reduce turnover and provide ongoing training to improve supervisor skills and overall work culture. Including evaluation of policies, procedures, and standards and provides recommendations based on best practice or lean principles using sustainable continuous improvement tools such as 5S and Kaizen
  • Ensure compliance with all project procedures, safety regulations, and quality requirements.
  • Evaluate equipment needs, coordinate maintenance and procurement with internal teams and suppliers, and work with Maintenance to prepare and present capital investment proposals.
  • Manage scheduling, logistics, and planning to optimize plant effectiveness and efficiency.
  • Collaborate with EHS on permits and licenses as per provincial requirements.
  • Promote and sustain positive employee relations by ensuring all employees are treated with respect, concerns are addressed promptly, and communication remains open and transparent.
  • Lead impactful cost reduction initiatives across all areas of manufacturing by enhancing line efficiency, waste control, and higher labor productivity.
  • Remain current with the latest production management practices, innovations, and industry trends.

Requirements
  • 5 years or greater of demonstrated experience as a Production Manager, Operations Manager, Manufacturing Manager Value Stream Manager, or equivalent.
  • Possess a strong understanding of Lean principles and their application within a manufacturing environment.
  • Previous experience of business and management principles (budgeting, strategic planning, resource allocation, project management and human resources).
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and the ability to learn and navigate various operating systems.
  • Demonstrate exceptional analytical abilities and strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Organization and time management skills.
  • Lean, and or Six Sigma experience is considered an asset.
  • Technical Degree is considered an asse
