About the Job

Plant Manager

In order to maintain and even increase our market share in this fast-growing environment, we are searching for a bilingual and dynamic Plant Manager, at our Lac-Mégantic, Quebec location. This tremendous permanent and full-time job opportunity.

The Plant Manager is responsible for delivering site key performance results. He/she will provide engineering and process solutions for issues and improvements; direct engineering, maintenance, production, and support teams; and build engineering, process, and business strategies that will enable the site to become world class. You will be required to solve problems in a professional manner, to perform a variety of tasks and to handle unforeseen situations.

Your Challenges:

Reporting to the Director, the Plant Manager will be responsible for overseeing the complete operations of the plant to ensure that operational objectives are met.

You will operate as a team member, sharing information and objectives within our group. You will oversee and will be accountable for the productivity/efficiency of the plant, quality control, maintenance, shipping, engineering, employee and union relations, health and safety, capital equipment planning, cost reduction initiatives, and continuous improvements.

Responsibilities:

  • Providing direction and supervision while ensuring day-to-day execution to achieve all plant operating objectives.
  • Drive continuous engineering improvement and lean manufacturing improvements in all areas of the facility .
  • Oversee the prioritization and progression on key initiatives and the development of goals, operational budgets, and operational processes.
  • Hold accountability for operational and financial results and for addressing issues that could impact goal attainment.
  • Participate as a member of the site leadership team, to ensure collaboration and leveraging of resources, innovations, and process improvements.
  • Promote a positive safety culture and ensure the safety of all employees through adherence to organizational safety standards and practices.
  • Manage a staff of 35 team members and a Collective Bargaining Agreement.
  • Build and maintain a network of internal and external partners.
  • Communicate effectively with team members, suppliers and customers.
  • Develop and maintain an effective and committed team.


General Qualifications:

  • Bilingual in English and French, both oral and written.
  • Experience in managing an industrial or manufacturing production unit.
  • Experience in a unionized environment (an asset).
  • Familiar with industry equipment and have technical expertise.
  • Have a global vision and an innovative spirit.
  • Excellent disposition working with your team.
  • Ease to work with computer systems and technologies.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Word and Excel.
  • Ability to work independently and in teams.
