Full Job Description
The Plant Manager serves as the senior leader at Mactac's Scranton, PA-based manufacturing facility and is responsible for managing and coordinating overall plant operations and driving operational excellence. This role is accountable for ensuring that we meet our customers' delivery requirements by ensuring that we deliver the highest quality product, at the lowest possible cost, in accordance with company policies and procedures. The Plant Manager reports to the VP, Operations and has profit and loss (P&L) responsibility for a manufacturing facility with over 120 employees and a high degree of manufacturing complexity.

Responsibilities include:
  • Acting as a safety leader and putting safety first in all responsibilities to drive world class safety performance at the facility.
  • Prioritizing, scheduling and delegating work assignments, and directly supervising the assigned members of the Plant Leadership Team to ensure the achievement of production performance and profit objectives at the lowest cost, consistent with company quality standards and customer delivery requirements.
  • Ensuring that all plant associates adhere to all company policies, procedures, and regulations.
  • Overseeing the establishment of production schedules and the production control process to ensure timely delivery of customer products.
  • Evaluating, recommending and implementing improvements in methods and processes to increase productivity and quality and to eliminate waste.
  • Developing plans for the maximum utilization of materials, machines, and employees to ensure plant profitability.
  • Operating the Plant within budget requirements.
  • Overseeing and directing the professional development of all plant associates.
  • Coordinating the efficient use of corporate resources by cooperating with assigned resources and capitalizing on manufacturing and administrative strengths.
  • Sourcing and maintaining technological knowledge of advancements in equipment or processes.
  • Ensuring proper maintenance of equipment and the building and establishing/maintaining superior plant housekeeping standards.
  • Developing and maintaining positive community relations.
  • Ensuring organizational compliance with all local, state and federal regulatory agencies, including promoting affirmative action and equal employment opportunity.
  • Performing supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
  • Partnering with Human Resources to create and maintain a formal Human Capital Plan for the facility, including a facility succession plan.
  • Leading efforts to develop organizational capability via Human Capital processes including performance feedback, recruitment and selection, salary planning processes, incentive plan alignment, performance recognition and differentiation.
  • Overseeing continuous improvement at the facility and leading efforts to establish a continuous improvement culture
  • Providing strategic and directional Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) focus, including facilitating and leading EHS discussions.
  • Implementing and maintaining effective two-way communication and providing time and resources for employee training and development.
  • Actively endorsing and promoting EHS policies and integrated management systems.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in business management, engineering or a related discipline is required. Consideration will be given to candidates with a high school diploma/GED who possess significant relevant prior experience.
  • Minimum of 10 years related experience in a manufacturing environment with demonstrated growth in roles of progressive responsibility and authority.
  • Must possess the ability to manage a large, multi-departmental, diversified manufacturing facility.
  • Completion of Continuous Improvement training and/or Six Sigma certification, or a willingness to complete Continuous Improvement training.
  • Strong business acumen with the ability to read and interpret financial reports and statements.
  • Strong leadership presence with demonstrated ability to motivate and engage a diverse workforce.
  • Must be a confident and adept decision maker and capable of making decisions with time and information constraints.
  • Ability to analyze, solve problems and generate new ideas, across a variety of business processes.
  • Requires ability to effectively communicate, both in writing and verbally, with people of various educational and technical backgrounds, both inside and outside the company.
  • Ability to function comfortably and effectively in a rapidly changing environment in support of the immediate needs of both the organization and customer base.
  • Should possess strong change management skills.
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office tools.

    • Prescribed personal protective equipment (PPE) is mandatory in all laboratory and manufacturing areas.
